Gen. Flynn last September: Immunity means you’ve probably committed a crime

Breaking news tonight that former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn is asking for immunity to testify before Congress.

It’s thus rather timely to rerun Flynn’s comments from last September about Hillary Clinton, in which Flynn said if you have to ask for immunity you’ve probably committed a crime.

And Flynn isn’t wrong. Asking for immunity does look fishy. It’s just funny that Flynn is now the one seeking immunity.

Flynn, you’ll recall, is famous for his “lock her up!” chant during the Republican convention.

Anderson Cooper showed the video tonight:

Heck, Gerald Ford gave a presumptive pardon to Richard Nixon, before Nixon had even been charged with anything, so this has been going on even before Reagan.

  2. Butch1 says:

Reagan made sure he pardoned all of the guilty parties after they were tried. If Trump is still in office and isn’t a part of the trial, it wouldn’t surprise me if he pulled the very same thing.

  3. Butch1 says:

It makes one wonder if he thinks the same about what he previously said.

I’ve also heard a little undertow about Stolen Valor regarding his many Bronze Stars and how the pins on them may not be properly earned. One can only receive the pin on the ribbon IF you’ve been in combat and apparently, the “brave” General was never in any harm’s way or in combat whilst in Iraq when he received them. (Just what I’ve heard.)

  4. NotConvinced says:

I agree with Flynn in September.

  5. MoonDragon says:

He’s dangling bait and hoping someone in Congress will bite. Justice would want a sample for verification be for offering immunity; he would talk effectively off the record – without fear of prosecution – then, once DoJ assessed the credibility, he’d be offered immunity for testimony under oath. If Congress takes the bait and offers him immunity, he can offer up a nothing burger and then use his immunity to skate on the DoJ charges. He’s trying to pull an Ollie North.

  6. Randy Johnson says:

Did senate deny immunity so Flynn pleads 5th and doesn’t talk?

  7. Demosthenes says:

“When you are given immunity, that means that you probably have committed a crime.”

    General Mike Flynn, 2016

  8. Demosthenes says:

Many Russian operatives recently died who may have been involved with their meddling with the 2016 election to install Trump. Perhaps Flynn is afraid Putin may want to silence him?

  9. Demosthenes says:

So far no one is taking Flynn’s offer of immunity, which may mean he is in bigger trouble than is widely known. Hmmm.

  10. Niblet58 says:

Or old Mikie is smarter than he looks, he may be asking for a pardon from his patron Trump…

  11. Badgerite says:

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey. “Lock HIM up.”

  12. Niblet58 says:

Nope, sorry Mikie, you cough up the goods first THEN after they have checked out you might get some immunity. No one gets it before hand, That makes it very difficult to prosecute later (Oliver North) should their info be nothing more than dandelion seeds.
