  1. Zorba says:

    Merci beaucoup.

  2. Pierre-Yves SALOMON says:

Paris and the French people stands with Orlando.

  3. Bill_Perdue says:

“Sitora Yusufiy, the ex-wife of Orlando shooter Omar Mateen, said during a press conference on Sunday that she believes that Mateen suffered from mental illness.

After calling her ex “bi-polar,” Yusufiy said he was deeply disturbed and would abuse her physically during their four-month marriage. (She also added that she had not spoken to Mateen or his family in at least seven years.)

“He was mentally unstable and mentally ill and he was obviously disturbed, deeply,” she said. “That’s when I started worrying about my safety and he was abusing me physically very often and not allowing me to speak to my family and he kept me hostage from them. And I tried to see good in him even then but my family was very tuned into it I was going through and decided to visit me in rescue me out of that situation.

She was joined at the press conference by her current fiancé, who also reiterated that he thought the shooting had “nothing to do” with religion, and more with mental illness. “

  5. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

Yesterday’s devastating news brought to mind all of the people that were lost to complications of AIDS. Thanks for posting this.

  6. MoonDragon says:

He had a history of domestic abuse. That should be a flag in BG checks.

  7. emjayay says:

Well, he only killed 50 people, so there’s that.

As I remember it there have been efforts to just limit clips to some number of bullets, and that gets (oh crap I was going to write “shot down”, but anyway…) watered down or not passed.

  8. chukobuk says:

20 years, sounds like the National Firearms Act has been very successful at eliminating the criminal use of fully automatic firearms by simply requiring registration and background checks. By that observation, NFA should be expanded to cover all semi-automatic firearms and it won’t require any confiscation.

  9. Houndentenor says:

So what do you suggest we do. More than one mass shooting a day is not acceptable to most of us. What should we do to reduce these mass murders?

  10. quax says:

Keep up the good work, vote Libertarian all the way. Now go and play somewhere else.

  11. quax says:

The truth would obviously not stab her in the ass but rather use a Rock River Arms AR-15 rifle.

    Nice NRA trolling though …

  12. quax says:

This guy was on the no-fly list, and nevertheless was allowed to legally purchase these guns. This is almost verbatim the example that Obama recently warned about.

Yes, more, or rather better, laws could have prevented this.

  13. quax says:

Card carrying Democrat and ISIS member …

Yes, that makes so much sense. In your mind they are probably the same anyhow.

BTW he passed those Florida State background checks, while at the same time being flagged on the federal no-fly list.

  14. See, I on the other hand voted for Obama, who won. He appointed Sotomayor and Kagan (which I can gare-on-tee McCain wouldn’t’ve), and now I can get fucking married.

That seems a little more… now, what’s the right word? Practical? Efficient? Effective? Smart?

  15. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

Seems to me that you need to argue the point with the Orlando Police.

  16. I haven’t said anything about you.

  17. Beats Trump by a mile tho’, bitch.

  18. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

Why was my answer stupid? BTW – if you are going to put an word in bold print, be sure to spell it correctly.

  19. west coast raffy says:

Hillary fool. So a self-professed far leftist of even liberals is voting for the moderate corporatist unable to call out Islamic fundamentalism after Orlando- and who wouldn’t know the truth after it stabbed her in the ass…

    Good luck with that…

  20. west coast raffy says:

    Dude- I haven’t voted Repub since 1984.

Paul 88, Marrou 92, Browne 96 & 00, Badnarik in 04, The Constitution Party loon in 08- ’cause Barr was a disaster, and Johnson in 12.

Tell me more about my “conservatism”…

  21. Hillary fool.

You work to destroy conservatism and subvert fundamentalism with the candidate you have, not the one wish and all that.

  22. west coast raffy says:

And I absolutely love the stupid answers I keep getting…

The last time I remember a fuly automatic weapon used in a crime was the Hollywood shoot-out in 1997. (almost 20 years) “Illegally” modifed weapon… but more laws will work!

  23. Zorba says:

For those who did not know this:

The co-owner of Pulse, the Orlando gay nightclub that became the scene
of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history on Sunday, founded the club
to honor her brother who died of AIDS and to support the lesbian, gay,
    bisexual and transgender community.

Barbara Poma, whose brother died in 1991, opened Pulse in 2004 with
business partner Ron Legler. The venue promoted gay rights and put on
events supporting happenings in the gay community, ranging from Come Out
with Pride to Gay Games, according to the club’s website.

  24. west coast raffy says:

So, who you gonna vote for Harry? Raoul Castro, Maduro, or Kim Jong-un?

  25. west coast raffy says:

Of course, the killer here used a semi-automatic weapon- so, not an “assault weapon”?

  26. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

From Wikipedia: “An assault rifle is a fully automatic selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine.”

Hopefully that answers your question since you seem to be asking it on many blogs.

  27. What in the world makes you think I’m as far right as even the most liberal Democrat?

  28. Moorezart says:

The Reno Arch is going dark tonight to honor the victims. Vigil at 7:00 p.m.

  29. west coast raffy says:

You are correct. I hope all Democrats run on that…

  30. west coast raffy says:

What makes a gun an “assault” rifle? Black and scary?

  31. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

How about prohibiting the sale of assault rifles?

  32. Repealing the 2nd Amendment counts as new, right?

    That’s what I’d use.

  33. west coast raffy says:

Sorry you missed the news, dude… the guy was a Democrat who passed multiple background checks. What new law would you use to stop an attack like this?

  34. atavist says:

Portland, OR can need added to the list. A vigil is planned for 7 p.m. Sunday at NW Couch Street and Broadway. A second vigil will take place Thursday, organized by the Q Center and Pride NW.

  35. Sarah Russell says:

Las Vegas: 7pm at The Center, 401 S Maryland Pkway

  36. HammishFerny says:

In Seattle tonight at 8:00 Pm

  37. NicKelly says:

There’s a candlelight vigil in Tampa at 7:00 at Curtis Hixon Park.

  38. Trump says he wants the RNC to be a real spectacle this year.

If we can rush all those autopsies, maybe instead of addressing one empty chair they can address 50 full caskets?

  39. Houndentenor says:

Thanks, John. None near me, but as we have thunderstorms maybe better to wait a few days.

  40. 2patricius2 says:

The St. Louis LGBTQIA+ community will be meeting at Manchester and Sarah Street in the Grove at 8:30 p.m. tonight and march to the Transgender Memorial Garden for a vigil. Participants and speakers are continually joining the effort where community leaders, including Mayor Francis G. Slay, will speak.
