It’s amazing how many women Republicans can insult in just one week

A great video from Emily’s Lists, titled #GOPHeartsLadies, walking us through the offensive things Republicans have said about women in just the past seven days.

It starts with GOP Governor of Mississippi Phil Bryant talking about how working moms are to blame for American kids having such lousy test scores.

Then moves to Fox News’ Erick Erickson who thinks that women shouldn’t be working because animals don’t let their women work, so why would people?

Then it moves to everyone’s favorite effete cretin, Senator Jeff “Beauregard” Sessions of Alabama (Republicans, of course), who thinks that the reason we have so much sexual assault of women in the military is because of the porn magazines they sell at Air Force base general stores.

And finally, at the same hearing, Republican Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss says that, no, the real reason we have so much sexual assault in the military is “gee whiz, the hormones.”

And, as an aside, Erickson is from Louisiana, so we have a southern sweep of Republican sexism this week: Mississippi; Louisiana; Alabama; and Georgia.

Female lions aka lionesses are the ones who do the hunting and have the babies. These guys obviously don’t know much about male and female roles in nature. Good lord almighty.

If men gave birth that attitude would change in a nano second.

Well y’see, the GOPers are certain there HAS to be some way to express paternalistic, condescending, sexist and misogynistic notions so that they don’t upset us poor, dumb, selfishly irresponsible and habitually slutty wimmenz.

Once we saw the gravity of our mistakes, then we’d do the right thing and quit our jobs, find some fertile male to pair-bond with, settle down, and start popping out babies like a Pez dispenser. Oh, and vote however it is our owner-husbands tell us to vote, until they get around to repealing that pesky 19th Amendment.

    Their utter cluelessness would be

And yet they still scratch their collective ignorant heads wondering why they just can’t seem to make headway into the female vote.

All in all, for progressives, I would say it has been, again, another – sitting on the sidelines – productive week.

Keep it up guys as I sure there are (at least) one or two baggers still out there waiting to be convinced by your message(s)!

Females do about 80% of the work in the natural world.

And I’m nominally white and not so young, but let me tell you, Judy, I would provide the kick for some of these angry old white guys right into the 6′ deep hole. ;o)

  10. BeccaM says:

True. But as with the Matthew Shepard hate crimes law, the proof will be in whether the Ledbetter act is actually enforced.

But that was a step in the right direction.

  11. emjayay says:

Well, there was the Lilly Ledbetter act.

There is an ad covering half of this box.

Posting this allows me to read all of dcinsiders message by making it move down the page and out from under the ad.

While stupidity is not a uniquely Southern tradition, one has to acknowledge that they have it down to an art form. The vast majority of the slave states are simply homes to imbeciles and their elected representatives. I know, I know, there are good people in the South. I agree. They are a very small minority. When one travels South of the Mason-Dixon line, the average IQ plummets, and the racism, sexism, and homophobia meters jump. I often fantasize that if we had let them slip away in the 1860’s, we’d have a very powerful, highly educated, and progressive USA, and a southern border country where we could always find cheap labor. However, if this had happened, I do hope we would have built a very high fence.

Oh yeah, for Texas, the offer remains open to secede. Don’t let us stop you.

  14. BeccaM says:

Again: Good. I hope these GOPers keep reminding us exactly what they believe. I want the name Republican Party to become synonymous with “misogynist.”

And then maybe, just maybe, the Dems will realize there’s political ground to be gained not just in kinda, sorta holding the line on women’s issues — equal pay, freedom from discrimination, reproductive freedoms, and protection from rape — but in actually advancing those rights. Recover that ground we’ve been losing ever since the Equal Rights Amendment failed to pass.

    Speaking of which…

Great way to shore up that white, old man geezer vote.

it’s not like they’re going anywhere.

These guys need copies of Meerkat Manor or any number of documentaries on lions or hyenas.
