Stephen Colbert on Sen. Ayotte being ambushed by Sandy Hook daughter

Stephen Colbert expresses sympathy for the “senseless victims of victims.”

Colbert is referring to Erica Lafferty, whose mother Dawn Hochsprung was shot dead in the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre last Christmas. Lafferty confronted Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) this week, at a town hall meeting, over the good Senator’s vote to kill the background check legislation supported by up to 94% of the American people.

Lafferty’s mom was the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary.

This is a short one, but it’s good.

Romney is not old money. True old money in America begins with trusts formed in the 18th century. Names like Franklin or Hamilton are old money. Names like Bush and Koch are still nouveau. The newest nouveau like hedge fund climbers are little more than pirates in suits, who buy status, but don’t have it. Old money is quiet and runs deep.

Loved everything but Hillary in ’16’. I’m postponing my funeral until I rest easy that neo-liberal Hills is done gone’ Hills is the worst of Bill and Obama combined—-with a soupcon of Reagan thrown in. She’s also a bloody war monger.

Colbert and Stewart/Daily Show have been on a roll lately. We record them, and watched a Colbert Report last night which had been broadcast last week. Colbert was ripping the two economist frauds whose work brought us all of the nice austerity (just a coincidence, I’m sure) over the last four years. He kept riffing on their names, throwing out some of the most improbable, and thus comical, names the writers could come up with. I don’t think my wife and I have ever laughed so hard…

We also discovered that our big tabbie gets a little freaked out by our uproarious laughter…and gives my wife (rarely me; alpha male in the house, dontcha know) a little nip at the ankles. What’s funnier is that I figured this out when I realized the stripey furball did the same thing about two weeks ago…and then we laughed our a**es off again. John Oliver’s (Daily Show) gun control two-parter was also very good, especially at the very end of the second part.

Btw, anyone who comes away from just those two shows without realizing that pols aren’t even trying to mask their corruption anymore is just blind. (My wife and i figured it out long ago, but it’s pretty obvious many of our fellow ‘Merkins don’t get it)

    Hillary in ’16! /s

A little O.T., but relevant re: paying off legislators – is there a way of discerning how much of the 1% or the .1% are “New Money” or “Old Money” (Like Romney)?

She was calling BS on this callous argument that gun safety regs “burden” people. If you look at public reaction, you see that she got her point across nicely.

Background checks are irrelevant regarding sandy hook, he got the gun from his mother.
