Jon Stewart on the confused Republican rush for war in Syria, while they demand we don’t arm the wrong people, but at the same time we also don’t put our “boots on the ground.”

What do the Republicans, and their ringleader Lindsey Graham, want?  Who knows.

You’re new around here, ain’t ya’?

It’s not racism to note that Mr. Drone-bama is currently responsible for 2000+ murders-by-drone in Pakistan alone. Not to mention Yemen, where one particular drone strike murder killed a US citizen and his son (all because he said some mean things about the US; cosmos knows what his 16 yr old son was “guilty” of doing). This of course does not include the psychological aspect of terrorizing thousands of human beings on a daily basis by scheduling drone flights with regularity.

So, in closing, I would reckon that Karmanot’s statement may indeed have a basis in fact. Which is shocking to me, now that I think about it. Assad=evil, ‘cos he is responsible for killing his own people; Drone-bama=good, ‘cos he killed people in about half a dozen countries (so far) that weren’t ‘Merkin; except, of course, the American citizen and his son in Yemen who were summarily executed.

Let the republicans go,I’ll bet they find other possibilities if they ha to

  3. And you would badly lose that bet. But thanks for playing and displaying your ignorant racism.

if there are boots on the ground they will be the boots of the 99% not the 1%, thats one thing the gop and dems both agree on, send in the fools while the elites reap the benefits of the conflict.

  5. It’s Reaganomics again: more welfare for the wealthy under the guise of defense. The military-industrial complex gets richer, and the veterans become a burden on the federal government. Individual greed passed to public risk. Furthermore, where’s the money for these wars? Remember Schrub even cut taxes when he started his silly war on Iraq a decade ago.

  6. “Does Graham actually think they’ll thank us for doing this?”

Sure! After all, blundering into Iraq uninvited and bombing the place flat has won us the boundless gratitude of its citizens for giving them freedom.

(Phew. The whole idea of any Republican giving a curse for the well-being or liberty of anyone in another country is just laughable, except maybe if he’s the military dictator who runs the place.)

And why the American people hate Congress so much.

  8. karmanot says:

Now, now be nice to Aunt Pitti Pat, lest the vapors come. You are right about South Carolina. It is a pit of secession, anti-Constitutional regressive backwardness and worse. This is the traitor state that caused the Civil War.

  9. karmanot says:

I would wager that Obama has directly and indirectly murdered as many people as Assad by now.

  10. karmanot says:

For Miz O’Graham, Tomarra is a nuther day.

  11. Peter says:

Let me see if I can understand this rethuglican point of view. We need to cut the deficit, so we let this sequester thing happen, which cuts a bunch of cash. Now congress feels the pain because they fly on airplanes and will be delayed a bit. So they pass legislation that lets them fly without delay caused by the sequester, but does nothing to alleviate the suffering of the poor and disadvantaged. But now, somehow, we find we have a surplus of cash that we can spend starting another war, but don’t want to spend it on our citizens, or a whole host of other more important things.

I can understand why the rest of the world hates us so much.

  12. BeccaM says:

As near as I can tell, this is the logical progression starting from the fallacious notion of “surgical strikes,” up through “no-fly interdiction zones,” now evolved to drone strikes. Just as wars have been gradually exempted from the U.S. budgeting process and long since from any formal declaration of war accountability, our leaders have firmly embraced the notion of this new form of zero-accountability and hidden consequence war-making.

Borders are now irrelevant, as is any sense of who exactly the enemy is supposed to be. Is it the Syrian government? Or what we’re now being told are Islamic radical rebels?

Or is America simply going to start flying its drones over Syria and try to bomb both sides into submission? Does Graham actually think they’ll thank us for doing this?

  14. I could see and hear the clips, but found neither useful information nor humor.

Edit: Ok, I did spend a moment or two pondering about what the people of South Carolina see in that creep Lindsey Graham. He gives me the creeps just looking at him.

  15. MyrddinWilt says:

    They have utterly no clue.

If the US hadn’t gone into Iraq ten years ago and finished the job in Afghanistan instead, the US would have the capacity to mount a military campaign and the Russians might well be willing to let them.

But, noooo. A bunch of lying bastards led the country into the fiasco in Iraq and caused the death of half a million to a million people. Assad hasn’t even murdered as many people as George W. Bush yet. And this is the same gang of fools that toasted that misadventure.

Let them. People who have sense in Washington know that the louder McCain and Graham bleat, the worse their next war must be.
