Donald Trump is facing daily, and growing, protests following his disastrous summit in Helsinki with Russian president Vladimir Putin, in which Trump threw America under the Russian bus, and gave Putin everything he asked for.

Every day this week, a growing and increasingly more organized crowd has been assembling outside the north fence of the White House to loudly protest Trump’s appeasement of Russia, and his America Last policies.

I’ve attending every protest. Here are video and photos from each.

Day One: Monday, July 16, 2018

We had surprisingly good turnout considering it was an impromptu last minute protest:

Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro speaks at the July 16, 2018 White House protest:

Four members of Indivisible (Herndon/Reston VA branch) hold a protest sign outside the White House on July 16, 2018:

At one point, as Trump and Melania were arriving at the White House from Helsinki, we were moved across the street. That’s when we let loose with a lot of noise, to ensure that Trump would hear us:

Here’s where they moved us across the street. It was a lively crowd:

Day Two: July 17, 2018

Tuesday’s crowd was much bigger. Speakers included event-organizer Philipp Reinnes (the event was co-organized by Adam Parkhomenko), Center for American Progress head Neera Tanden, actress Alyssa Milano, and Stormy Daniel’s lawyer Michael Avenatti, who has gotten much more involved in the overall stop-Trump movement.

Here are a few videos from last night:

And a few images:

The Center for American Progress Neera Tanden speaks to the crowd — she was good:

There was a LOT Of media there too, which is great:

Day Three: July 18, 2018

On arriving at 8pm, the start of the protest, I could already see that the crowd was larger than what we had the night before.

This time, the protest was more “official,” in the sense that a lot of national and local groups were present and speaking. There were several members of Congress there, including Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Rep. John Sarbanes of Maryland, and Senator Merkley of Oregon:

There were a LOT of great signs this time around:

There was also a wonderful candlelight vigil after the sun set:

And then, they had a Mariachi band singing “Canta y no llores” (aka “Cielito Lindo). It was magical:

Overall, just another great night. Get ready for tonight!

JordanScandal.com is a new Web site I’ve set up as a one-stop shop for information about the Representative Jim Jordan Ohio State sexual abuse scandal.

This week, Jim Jordan hired a conservative crisis PR firm to attack the Ohio State victims, but unfortunately the firm is sloppy and didn’t buy the right Web addresses. The Jordan defense site is: StandWithJimJordan dot com. So I bought StandWithJordan.com and IStandWithJimJordan.com — both point to my new site. (This is Internet advocacy 101.)

My new site summarizes the scandal in an easy-to-understand one-page FAQ that I highly recommend you start with, and provides regular news updates via the blog and a sidebar with the links to the latest stories on the scandal. The goal is to provide the media and the public a simply break down of the scandal so each can act accordingly.

Finally, we provide action steps, including:

– Chipping in to help us hold Jim Jordan accountable through the election this fall. Click here to donate.

– Sign a petition calling on Jordan to come clean and resign.

And make sure to share the page via social media as well. Thanks!

A ninth former college wrestler has stepped forward to accuse GOP Rep Jim Jordan of knowing, and doing nothing, about the serial sexual assault of college wrestlers under his purview as the assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s.

The wrestler, who asked CNN to remain anonymous, says he was molested by the team doctor, Richard Strauss, during an exam, and that he told Jordan about it, in front of other wrestlers.

Jordan laughed, the wrestler says, and then replied: “I have nothing to do with this.”

The former wrestler said he doesn’t have any personal grudges against Jordan — he supported him when he first ran for office, despite identifying as a Democrat. He remembers directly telling Jordan about Strauss’ behavior.

“I remember coming up and saying, ‘Strauss held my balls longer than normal.’ He just snickered.”

The former wrestler recalled one time when he went into the wrestling room at OSU and a few athletes and Jordan were “clumped together.” He said he remembered saying, “something to the effect of ‘his hands are cold as s**t; he checked out every hair on my ball,'” and said Jordan replied, “I have nothing to do with this” and walked away.

The wrestler also said that the abuse was brought to the attention of then- head coach Russ Hellickson, who intervened and put a stop to it:

The former wrestler said that then-OSU head wrestling coach Russ Hellickson put the sexual abuse to a stop. “When they brought it to Russ, he (Strauss) was dismissed from being around the wrestling team.”

This is the second account of a former wrestler claiming that head coach Hellickson intervened, and it directly contradicts Hellickson’s written defense of Jordan from only yesterday, that claims that no one knew about the abuse, including Hellickson. In fact, Hellickson reportedly appears on a video in which he claims he knew and intervened.

Oddly, the CNN story says this is the fifth wrestler to come forward. In fact, he’s the 9th. See my tally here.

Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio has been accused of knowing of, and doing nothing about, the serial sexual abuse of college wrestlers under his purview, by their team doctor Richard Strauss, while he was serving as assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s.

As the Washington Post notes, five of the accusers say they “like” Jordan, several consider him a friend, and one even donated to his election campaign. So Jordan’s claims, that the allegations against him are part of a deep-state conspiracy involving the FBI and Justice Department. ring hollow.

In an effort to clarify this story, here’s what we know so far:

Accusers 1, 2, 3 (July 3)

NBC News broke the story that three former Ohio State wrestlers say that Rep. Jordan must have known about the abuse because it was so prevalent that everyone, from the students to the coaches, knew it was happening. And one former wrestler says he told Jordan directly about the abuse.

“Three former wrestlers told NBC News that it was common knowledge that Strauss showered regularly with the students and inappropriately touched them during appointments, and said it would have been impossible for Jordan to be unaware; one wrestler said he told Jordan directly about the abuse.”

Accuser 1: Mike DiSabato says the team doctor groped him dozens of times (and that Jim Jordan must have known about the doctor’s reputation):

“I never saw Doc Strauss over a nine-year time frame (including DiSabato’s time as a graduate student) where he didn’t ask me to — where I went to see him for medicine or whatever, finger injury, shoulder, knee — where he did not want to examine my testicles,” he said. “He groped. Every time.”

He said he was forced to let it happen.

“If you wanted your meds, if you wanted to stay healthy … so that you could stay on scholarship, you grinned and beared it, so to speak,” he said.

DiSabato later said his first interaction with Strauss was when he was a 14-year-old. Strauss, he said, was conducting research on body fat and high school wrestlers, and DiSabato was a subject.

The body fat test included a genital exam, something “I know (now) to be unnecessary,” DiSabato said.

Accuser 2: Dunyasha Yetts says he told Jordan and head coach Russ Hellickson that the doctor pulled down his shorts for a thumb injury.
Accuser 3: Anonymous. Tells NBC that “there is no way Jordan could have avoided the rumors ‘because it was all over the locker room.’ ‘I love Jimmy to death,’ the ex-wrestler said. ‘It was a head-scratcher to me why he would say he didn’t know anything. Doc used to take showers with the team even though he didn’t do any workouts, and everybody used to snicker about how you go into his office for a sore shoulder and he tells you to take your pants down.'”

Jordan’s denials (July 3)

Jordan personally, and through his spokesman, flatly denied any previous knowledge of any abuse. Here is Jim Jordan quoted by Politico on July 3:

“It’s not true,” Jordan said. “I never knew about any type of abuse. If I did, I would have done something about it. And look, if there are people who are abused, then that’s terrible and we want justice to happen.”

And here is Jordan’s spokesman, quoted by NBC News on July 3:

“Congressman Jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse, and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State,” his spokesman, Ian Fury, said in an email to NBC News.

Accuser 4 (July 5)

Accuser 4: Shawn Dailey, a Republican who is a former Jordan campaign donor, says he was groped half a dozen times by Dr Strauss. And while he didn’t tell Jordan directly about the abuse, he was present when Dunyasha Yetts’ told Jordan about Yetts’ own abuse at the doctor’s hands. Per NBC:

Dailey corroborated the account of one of those wrestlers, Dunyasha Yetts, who told NBC News that Yetts had protested to Jordan and head coach Russ Hellickson after Strauss tried to pull down his wrestling shorts when Yetts went to see him for a thumb injury.

“Dunyasha comes back and tells Jimmy, ‘Seriously, why do I have to pull down my pants for a thumb injury?’” Dailey recalled. “Jimmy said something to the extent of, ‘If he tried that with me, I would kill him.'”

Accuser 5 (July 5)

Accuser 5: Mark Coleman, another former wrestler and UFC world champion, that Jordan must have been aware of the abuse because the serial abuse was such common knowledge. Coleman also says he was Jordan’s “roommate” on several wrestling trips. From the WSJ:

“There’s no way unless he’s got dementia or something that he’s got no recollection of what was going on at Ohio State … I have nothing but respect for this man, I love this man, but he knew as far as I’m concerned.”

Accuser 6 (?)

Accuser 6: Unknown. Multiple news reports mention there being “seven” accusers, but they don’t actually explain who is the 6th accuser. Either they miscounted, or one accuser wanted to stay anonymous and on background, so he’s included in the tally, but not the exposition of the claims. Does anyone have more information on this witness?

Witness 6 could be former nursing student and Strauss medical assistant Brian Garrett, who witnessed the assault of one student, and then had Strauss assault him as well.

Jordan appears to flip-flop on Fox News (July 6)

Jordan appears on Fox News, and presents a new theory by which “locker room” talk does not count as a report of abuse. This is an interesting departure from Jordan’s previous blanket denials that the students had discussed the abuse with Jordan in the locker room, as they had claimed. Jordan is now saying that even if such discussions occurred, they did not rise to the level of a “report of abuse” because of the venue.

Accuser 7 (July 8)

Accuser 7: David Range, a former wrestler, says Jordan was present during group discussions in the locker room about the doctor’s behavior: “We talked about it all the time in the locker room” while Jordan was there, he said. “Everybody joked about it and talked about it all the time.”

Accuser 8 (July 9)

Accuser 8: Anonymous former wrestler tells CNN that the abuse was so notorious at the time that Jordan must have known.

Several former coaches defend Jordan, but lead coach contradicts self on video (July 9)

CNN reports that a number of former Ohio State coaches, including former head coach Russ Hellickson, have come to the defense of Jordan, claiming they never heard about any problems the kids were having with the team doctor. There’s a problem with this claim: The head coach already confessed on tape to hearing disturbing reports about the doctor, and scolding the doctor about it. Also, Accuser #9 told CNN that Hellickson knew about the abuse, and intervened to stop it. More here.

Accuser 9 (July 10)

Accuser 9: AnonymousA ninth former college wrestler has stepped forward to accuse GOP Rep Jim Jordan of knowing, and doing nothing, about the serial sexual assault of college wrestlers under his purview as the assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s.

The wrestler, who asked CNN to remain anonymous, says he was molested by the team doctor, Richard Strauss, during an exam, and that he told Jordan about it, in front of other wrestlers. Jordan’s response? He laughed, and then said “I have nothing to do with this,” according to the wrestler.

Accusers 10 & 11 (July 11)

Accuser 10: Reid Delaman
Accuser 11: Michael Alf

Two more former Ohio State wrestlers say GOP Rep. Jim Jordan must have heard his then- college wrestlers talking about the sexual abuse they were suffering at the hands of their team doctor, Richard Strauss. NBC reports that, ironically, the two thought they were defending Jordan with their comments. This brings to 11 the number of former wrestlers saying Jim Jordan must have heard about the abuse.

CNN reports that a number of former Ohio State coaches, including former head coach Russ Hellickson, have come to the defense of embattled GOP Rep. Jim Jordan — who is facing allegations that he knew of serial abuse of his students, while working as a wrestling coach, and did nothing about it — claiming they never heard about any problems the kids were having with the team doctor.

There’s a problem with this claim: The head coach has already reportedly admitted on tape to hearing disturbing reports about the doctor.

First, here is the coaches’ new denial of having any inkling of problems with the team doctor:

“What has been said about Jim Jordan is absolutely wrong. We all worked on the wrestling coaching staff during Jim’s tenure at The Ohio State University. None of us saw or heard of abuse of OSU wrestlers. The well-being of student-athletes was all of our concern. If we had heard of any abuse, we would have spoken up,” said the statement, signed by former head coach Russ Hellickson and former assistant coaches Dave Ruckman, Rex Holman, Ken Chertow, Myron Kharchilava and Kenny Ramsey Jr.

“At no time while Jim Jordan was a coach with me at Ohio State did either of us ignore abuse of our wrestlers,” Hellickson added.

Note that head coach Hellickson is one of the signatories of that denial. This seems to flatly contradict a video Hellickson reportedly made a few months ago in which he makes clear he heard more than enough to scold the doctor for his behavior. Also from an earlier CNN story:

A former Ohio State University wrestling coach says he warned a team doctor — whose alleged actions are the subject of a school investigation into sexual abuse allegations — that the doctor was “too hands on” with student athletes, according to a video produced last month by a former student wrestler who says he was abused….

In the video, former head wrestling coach Russ Hellickson, who arrived at Ohio State in 1986, doesn’t specify whether athletes came to him with allegations of abuse, but says he talked to the doctor about physical contact with the wrestlers.

“I told him one time, I said, ‘Doctor you’re much too hands on,’ and he just said, ‘Oh, I’m being thorough,’ ” Hellickson said.

Hellickson also says in the video that the doctor would often shower at the same time as the wrestlers, making them uncomfortable.

….

In the video, Hellickson says he confronted Strauss about taking showers with the student athletes, and told the doctor he was making the wrestlers nervous. The physician reportedly pointed out to the coach that Hellickson also showered with the team.

“I said, ‘Yeah. Not for an hour, doc,’ ” the former coach says.

And it get worse for Hellickson. There is now a second wrestler who has stepped forward to say that Hellickson knew about the abuse, and even intervened to help.

Someone appears too cute by half.

If Hellickson had never heard or seen anything wrong with the doctor’s behavior towards the students, then why did Hellickson tell the doctor “you’re much too hands on,” and complain to the doctor about his hour-long showering making the students uncomfortable? If there were nothing wrong, then Hellickson wouldn’t have spoken to the doctor about it.

It seems as though Hellickson, the other coaches, and perhaps Jordan himself may be trying to parse words: They hadn’t “heard of abuse,” rather they were aware of student claims that the doctor would fondle their genitals and then shower with them for an hour. How are those two things different? What constitutes abuse if not the serial fondling of teenage boys’ genitals?

This defense sounds similar to Jordan’s claim that hearing of the abuse from students in the locker room does not constitute “a report of abuse,” because somehow the venue, a locker room, makes the report unserious. There seems to be a lot of parsing of words for people who claim to be innocent.

Raymond Kethledge is reportedly on Donald Trump’s short-list for the Supreme Court.

In addition to being a staunch conservative, Kethledge is a member of the Anglican Church in North America. An offshoot of the more moderate Episcopal Church, the ACNA was created in 2009 because the far-right fringe of the church felt that Episcopalians weren’t anti-gay and anti-women enough. Specifically, they were upset that the Episcopal Church had endorsed a gay bishop, same-sex marriage, and the ordination of women.

Yes, while many faiths have a ways to go with how they treat LGBT people and women, Kethledge’s church was created expressly to protect and enshrine homophobia and sexism.

The spiritual leader of ACNA was notorious anti-gay bigot Peter Akinola, a Nigerian bishop who endorsed legislation to outlaw same-sex relationships (and throw gay married couples in jail for 5 years), clubs, organizations, and public displays of support for homosexuality (including parades, and even statements). Akinola ushered in a horrific era of homophobia in Nigeria.

Now, keep in mind that Nigeria is a country in which “Christians” have killed children they deem to be “witches,” and Anglican leaders have called same-sex marriage “a holocaust.” Akinola, for his part, also suggested that homosexuality is a Western thing (this is a common myth among anti-gay bigots in Africa, that the West created gays, and we have infected Africa with our sickness). This is the man, and the ideology, behind Kethledge’s church.

Here is a portion of Akinola’s letter in support of Nigeria’s draconian anti-gay bill in 2009:

Same sex marriage apart from being ungodly is also unscriptural, unnatural, unprofitable, unhealthy, uncultural, un-African and un-Nigerian. It is a perversion, a deviation and an aberation that is capable of engendering moral and social holocaust in this country. It is also capable of extincting mankind and as such should never be allowed to take root in Nigeria. Outlawing it is to ensure the continued existence of this nation. The need for doing this is urgent, compelling and imperative. The time is now.

The Most Revd. Peter J. Akinola
Archbishop Primate and Metropolitan
Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion)

Here’s a bit more from Akinola, during the discussion of the bill:

The penalty for engaging in same gender marriage should be 5 years imprisonment each.

“The introduction of this bill… is one of the best things that have happened to us as a nation.”

“Any society or nation that approves same sex union as an acceptable lifestyle is in an advanced stage of corruption/moral decay. This bill, therefore seeks to sheild Nigeria from the complete annihiliation that will follow the wrath of God should this practice be accepted as normal in the land.”

So now you know where Raymond Kethledge is coming from, and it’s not pretty.

trump lgbt flag rainbowIt’s funny. Donald Trump crowed repeatedly during the campaign about how he would be so much more pro-LGBT than Hillary Clinton. Remember, Trump even brought a rainbow flag on stage at one appearance.

It was just another lie.

“Jim Jordan definitely knew that these things were happening — yes, most definitely.”

A seventh former college wrestler at Ohio State, who attended the school while GOP Rep Jim Jordan was assistant wrestling coach from 1986-1994, says Jordan “definitely knew” that the boys were being sexually abused by the team doctor, according to the Washington Post.

The former wrestler, David Range, says Jordan was present during group discussions in the locker room about the doctor’s behavior. Other former team members say they told Jordan about the doctor’s abuse, and Jordan did nothing to remedy it.

Jordan, a darling of the family-values right, who had hopes of becoming the next House Speaker in January, has called the men liars, and even went so far as to claim that the accusations are part of a deep state conspiracy tied to Robert Mueller and Rod Rosenstein.

Now that seven former wrestlers have come forward to say that Jordan knew, and several of them are longtime friends of Jordan who even donated to his campaign, Jordan claims are becoming more and more difficult to believe.

Jordan didn’t help matters any by changing his story Friday night in a botched interview with Fox News. Jordan seemed to back off of his previous claims that the boys were lying, only to now suggest that maybe they did tell him about the abuse, but since they told him while in their locker room it didn’t count:

“Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than people coming up and talking about abuse. No one ever reported any abuse to me. If they had, I would have dealt with it.”

Yes, Jordan is resurrecting Donald Trump’s “locker-room talk” defense. Which has a few holes.

First, claims of sexual abuse are not less serious simply because they’re conveyed in a locker room. These were college wrestlers talking to their coach. Their workplace is the locker room. And their coach is arguably their in loco parentis, acting as their parent or guardian.

Second, Jordan seems to be suggesting that since the conversations took place in a locker room, they were per se either braggadocio or jokes. Really? How many teenage boys brag and/or joke with their adult superiors about grown men fondling their genitals? I’d posit zero.

This story isn’t going away. Jim Jordan’s run at the speakership is likely now dead in the water, and the only remaining question is whether his political career can survive at all as the drip drip drip of accusers continues to step forward.

UPDATE: On reviewing the Fox reporting again, it seems that after Jordan appeared to suggest that he had heard of abuse in the locker room — even Bret Baier seems to have interpreted Jordan’s words thusly — Jordan then again denied hearing anything:

BAIER: So did you hear it in the locker room?

JORDAN: No. No. No — no type of abuse. We did not hear that. And if we had, we would have dealt with it.

Which raises the question of why Jordan felt the need to suggest that locker-room confessions of abuse somehow don’t count because of the venue.

_______________________

After a week of denials, Republican congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio seemed to flip-flop on whether he heard about the serial sexual assault of college wrestlers under his purview as assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s.

Jordan said in an interview today with Fox News, because he may have been told of the abuse while he was in the locker room, the report somehow doesn’t count, so he didn’t act, or wouldn’t have acted, on it:

“Conversations in a locker room are a lot different than people coming up and talking about abuse. No one ever reported any abuse to me. If they had, I would have dealt with it.”

Yes, Jim Jordan is claiming the “locker room talk” defense to explain why he may have permitted perhaps hundreds of boys to be sexually assaulted while under his watch as their coach.

For days, Jordan — a star of the far-right conservative family-values wing of the GOP, who hopes to become Speaker next year — has flatly denied having any knowledge of the alleged sexual abuse.

Today, Jordan’s story changed significantly.

In an interview with Fox News (video below), Jordan implies that he now remembers being told of the allegations. (Though he later denied it.) But, incredibly, Jordan suggests that the reports of sexual assault were simply locker room talk, and thus not to be taken seriously. This totally contradicts Jordan’s denials from earlier this week.

Here’s what Jordan told Politico earlier this week:

“It’s not true,” Jordan said. “I never knew about any type of abuse. If I did, I would have done something about it. And look, if there are people who are abused, then that’s terrible and we want justice to happen.”

And here is what Jordan’s spokesperson told NBC earlier this week:

“Congressman Jordan never saw any abuse, never heard about any abuse, and never had any abuse reported to him during his time as a coach at Ohio State,” his spokesman, Ian Fury, said in an email to NBC News.

Both Jordan and his spokesman made it crystal clear that Jordan did not “know” of any abuse, nor had he heard “heard” of any abuse, or had any abuse “reported to him.”

Well, that story seemed to change when Jordan went on Fox today. In this latest interview, now that five former college wrestlers have come forward to say that Jordan in fact did know about the abuse, Jordan invents his new “locker room talk” defense:

Actually, Congressman Jordan, when young boys under your purview tell you in a locker room that the team doctor is fondling their genitals every time they see him for a sore throat, and that it’s happening to everyone they know, there’s actually no difference between that an allegation of abuse.

Did Ohio State have an explicit policy during your tenure that reports of sexual abuse must be submitted in writing, or must only be passed along in the coaches office? Doubtful. And had you previously made the boys aware that their plea for help would go unheard because they picked the wrong venue to inform you that that they were being virtually and serially raped by your locker mate?

One doubts that Jim Jordan would consider it simply “locker room talk” if his sons told him, in a locker room, that their doctor was fondling them.

But regardless, Jordan and his spokesman made it perfectly clear that Jordan hadn’t “heard” about any abuse at all. That defense appears to now be changing. Why did Jordan’s story suddenly change, and why should we believe Jordan’s new defense when the old one was clearly a lie?

They’re his wrestlers. He’s the wrestling coach. They live on the gym floor and in the locker room. Where are they supposed to tell their coach about abuse in order to be taken seriously?

There are so many hole in Jordan’s story, and it’s clear that he now lied during his earlier denials. Perhaps now the media, which has been loathe to report on this story, will now take it seriously.

GOP Rep. Victims say as many as 2,000 students may have been molested over a 20-year period by a sports doctor who worked alongside Jordan, Yet, the media is giving the story scant coverage because IOKIYAR. In today’s UnPresidented podcast, Cliff and I delve into the Jordan scandal, and why the media is always willing to cut Republicans some slack while hounding Democrats to political death.

We also discuss the treasonous GOP congressional delegation that thought this 4th of July would be a great time to visit Moscow, and the GOP governor of Illinois who is refusing to take a firm stand against a literal-Nazi who’s the Republican nominee in a congressional seat on the south side of Chicago.

The future in politics of a top House Republican grew more precarious today as a fourth Ohio State former-wrestler went public with charges that GOP Rep. Jim Jordan was explicitly told, when he worked as an assistant coach at Ohio State University, that then- team doctor Richard Strauss was sexually abusing boys on the wrestling team, and did nothing about it.

NBC News broke the original story, and also broke the news of the charges from the newest victim against Jordan. As the doctor was on staff for nearly twenty years, one of the victims says he could have abused as many as 2,000 Ohio State students.

UPDATE: A fifth student has now come forward to accuse Jordan of knowing, and doing nothing, about the abuse.

Jordan, a cofounder of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, known for staunch “family values” and anti-gay views, recently denied having any previous knowledge of the ongoing abuse, and went so far as to suggest that the now-men were lying, and perhaps part of a deep-state conspiracy involving the FBI and the Justice Department who, Jordan appears to now be claiming, are out to destroy his career.

But now that a fourth former student has come out publicly to accuse Jordan of enabling the serial sexual assault of young college students, some of whom may have been minors, Jordan’s denials are likely to be viewed skeptically at best. With many of the recent MeToo accusations, while the first alleged victim’s accusations were always taken with a grain of salt, once multiple victims stepped forward, it’s usually game-over as it becomes increasingly difficult to believe that there’s a conspiracy of victims — especially men — willing to lie about being sexually assaulted.

Jordan has made no secret of the fact that he has eyes on current House Speaker Paul Ryan’s speakership when Ryan leaves after this Congress. It’s difficult to image Jordan getting the speakership, let alone winning his seat again this fall against Democrat Janet Garrett, if this scandal continues to grow.

Embattled GOP Representative Jim Jordan, who is accused by numerous former college wrestlers of ignoring their complaints of sexual abuse at the hands of the team doctor while Jordan was their coach at Ohio State, appeared today to suggest that the entire scandal is a false-flag deep-state conspiracy concocted by the Justice Department to derail his run at the House speakership.

Jordan, who is a founding member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, wants to replace Paul Ryan when the House speaker steps down this coming January. Those plans may now be in jeopardy because of a growing scandal at Ohio State, where a number of former college athletes claim they were sexually abused by the school’s sports medicine doctor, who worked alongside then assistant coach Jordan.

Several of the former students claim that Jordan was told of the abuse; while others say that it would have been impossible for Jordan not to know, as it was a poorly-kept secret that the doctor would routinely sexually assault the boys during their visits to his office, in addition to regularly showering alongside the boys for an hour at a time, even when he hadn’t worked out and thus didn’t need a shower. The doctor’s locker was right next to Jordan’s. Jordan denies the allegations that he knew anything of the doctor’s crimes.

Jordan is now claiming, incredibly, that the sexual abuse scandal is somehow tied to his run for the speakership and his grilling of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein at a hearing last week. Jordan is a top Trump defender in the House, who has repeatedly claimed without evidence that there is a deep state conspiracy in the Department of Justice and FBI that tried to get Hillary Clinton elected. In fact, those agencies are notoriously conservative, and if anything, the FBI, in the person of James Comey, got Trump elected. (Also, we know that FBI agents leaked damaging information about Hillary Clinton to Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani during the campaign as well.)

Nonetheless, Jordan, who can’t pass up a good fake conspiracy, is now claiming that the burgeoning Ohio State scandal is somehow a secret plot to hurt his run at the speakership and to retaliate for his over-the-top questioning of Rosenstein.

So much for MeToo.

Here’s the video from CNN of Jordan’s incredible claims:

Jim Jordan, a conservative Republican in the US House who’s been talked about as a potential future House Speaker, is facing accusations that he looked the other way while as many as 2,000 college-aged boys were sexually abused by a sports doctor at Ohio State University over a 20-year period.

Sadly, many in the media, and the pundits, are ignoring the Jordan story. And you just know that Jordan wouldn’t be getting a free pass if he were a Democrat.

I am going to do everything I can to make sure this story sticks, and ensure that Jim Jordan goes down. Please help me do that by chipping in with a donation to support my work.

JORDAN IS THE SECOND MOST POWERFUL PERSON IN THE US HOUSE

Jim Jordan is arguably the second-most powerful man in the US House, after Paul Ryan. Jordan is a cofounder of the Freedom Caucus, a gathering of the most extreme right-wing members of the House. And he’s been talked about as a possible replacement for House Speaker Paul Ryan, when Ryan steps down next January. So it was a bombshell when NBC News reported two days ago that multiple former college wrestlers — Jordan was Ohio State’s assistant wrestling coach for 8 years — are accusing Jordan of intentionally ignoring their complaints of sexual abuse by the doctor.

Jordan has issued a vehement denial, claiming to have known nothing of the doctor’s 20-year reign of terror at the school, and also denying that any students informed him of the problem. Several former students contacted by NBC News say Jordan is lying, and that they either told Jordan directly of the problem, or that it was simply impossible for Jordan not to know as it was a poorly-kept secret that the doctor routinely abused the boys.

And one former student says he contacted Jordan this spring, to let Jordan know he was finally going public about the abuse, and Jordan asked him “not to get him involved.” Jordan is now denying all of this.

DID JORDAN SHOWER WITH THESE KIDS?

But Jordan’s denials are getting more clumsy. Yesterday, Jordan was interviewed by CNN about the scandal, and the conservative congressman stutteringly told CNN that it was common for faculty at Ohio State to shower with the boys: “It’s what people did because of the accommodations at the gym,” Jordan told CNN, “that was just the nature of how the arrangement was.”

In whose possible universe is this normal? (Denny Hastert.) This raises the question of whether Jim Jordan himself showered with college boys at any time during his tenure at Ohio State. Keep in mind that some of these kids could have been minors. I started college at 17. Also, this doctor had a practice off-campus, who knows how many boys he abused while Jim Jordan allegedly looked the other way.

“MAYBE THE MOST MALIGN FORCE IN THE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS”

We already knew that Jim Jordan was an awful person. As reporter Jonathan Alter wrote yesterday, in response to one of my many tweets on the subject:

Maybe the most malign force in the Republican caucus—@jim_jordan —is exposed as a liar in a case where he apparently turned a blind eye to sex molestation (like the Penn State coaches who were prosecuted) He has always been a smear artist and should be pressed to resign pronto.

Keep in mind that Jim Jordan is one of Donald Trump’s biggest defenders in Congress, probably outdone only by House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes. Jordan is the congressman who famously, last week, made a fool of himself while attempting to excoriate Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein during a House hearing.

Jordan routinely tries to undermine the Mueller investigation, and has claimed for months that notoriously-Republican FBI actually tried to throw the election to Hillary! (That last link is to an interview Jordan did on CNN last December — it’s bonkers.) When in fact, the FBI threw the election to Trump, and everybody knows it.

AL FRANKEN HAD TO RESIGN WHILE BEING ACCUSED OF FAR LESS, WHY IS JORDAN STILL IN OFFICE?

Jim Jordan is beyond bad news. But so far, he’s paid no price for what are horrific allegations. If Jim Jordan were a Democrat — Al Franken comes to mind — the media would be on this story 24/7, and Republicans would be demanding he step down. Instead, Jordan is a Republican, so the TV coverage was light, and now is pretty much over. Nearly 2,000 kids, some underage, may have been sexually abused and even raped, and the possible future Speaker of the House may have known about it and hid it, and this isn’t a story worth more than a blip?

Help me make this a story. Help me hold Jim Jordan accountable. Please chip in and support my work holding Jim Jordan accountable, with a generous donation, and I will do all I can to make sure the media’s double-standard on this scandal comes to an end, and even better, that Jim Jordan loses his re-election this fall.

PS Here’s another way of helping take down Jim Jordan, support his Democratic opponent in the fall, Janet Garrett with a donation to her campaign. This scandal could take Jordan down. Garrett has a real chance now.

National security expert Malcolm Nance joins us on the UnPresidented podcast more to talk about his newest book, “The Plot to Destroy Democracy: How Putin and His Spies Are Undermining America and Dismantling the West.” The book focuses on how, since the election, Vladimir Putin is using Trump to implement his plan “to end democracy and the way of American life as we see it.”

You can listen to a ten-minute excerpt of the interview below:

In one of our longest, and most serious, podcasts to date, Malcolm walks us through just how corrupted Trump has become by Russia, how Trump has always aspired to be an oligarch (and how Russia appears to have gotten their claws in to Trump earlier than was previously known), how Trump is preparing to give away the house at his likely summit next month with Vladimir Putin, how Russia and China both have a long-term plan to replace the US as the global superpower worldwide (while the US does little to counter it), how and why Trump is now stoking the flames of a civil war (“This man is stoking civil war, he’s stoking violence”), and why the election in November is our last best hope to save our democracy because “America is under attack.” (“If they win this election, their destruction of American democracy, and European democracy and the Atlantic alliance, will be unstoppable.”) Malcolm also weighs in on the immigration debate, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ difficulty in finding a good restaurant.

A bit more from Malcolm about Trump’s penchant for lying: “Look, this is a man who used to read Mein Kampf to his wife in bed, and was fascinated at the strength of Hitler’s speeches, and Goebbel’s statement of the Big Lie: If you’re going to tell a big lie, tell it, and if you repeat it three times it becomes the truth. These people understand that, and they are using the power of lying all the time.”

It’s an admittedly serious discussion about a serious topic: the survival of our country. With the level of detail, and fascinating insight, that only Malcolm can provide.

You can listen to the entire 82-minute episode here.

While today’s episode is mostly an update on Trump’s horrific child-separation policy, and the fact that Trump immigration officials have lost the information that identifies who many of these kids belong to, I start the show with two stories about karma.

The first: Trump administration officials report that they can’t get dates in Washington, DC because everybody hates them.

Next, I talk about soybean farmers in the Midwest, who were solid Trump voters, and who know are seeing their life’s work being flushed down the toilet because of Trump’s growing trade war with Canada, Europe and Asia.

And finally, I conclude with a discussion of a new Associated Press poll that shows even Republicans want to see Trump impeached if he dares pardon himself. (Stephen Miller photo by Gage Skidmore.)

Here’s the excerpt on Trump staff dating woes:

And here’s the excerpt on the latest horrors of the child-separation policy, that these kids may never be reunited with their parents:
