9th Accuser: I told GOP Rep Jordan about sexual abuse, Jordan laughed & refused to help

A ninth former college wrestler has stepped forward to accuse GOP Rep Jim Jordan of knowing, and doing nothing, about the serial sexual assault of college wrestlers under his purview as the assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University in the 1980s and 1990s.

The wrestler, who asked CNN to remain anonymous, says he was molested by the team doctor, Richard Strauss, during an exam, and that he told Jordan about it, in front of other wrestlers.

Jordan laughed, the wrestler says, and then replied: “I have nothing to do with this.”

The former wrestler said he doesn’t have any personal grudges against Jordan — he supported him when he first ran for office, despite identifying as a Democrat. He remembers directly telling Jordan about Strauss’ behavior.

“I remember coming up and saying, ‘Strauss held my balls longer than normal.’ He just snickered.”

The former wrestler recalled one time when he went into the wrestling room at OSU and a few athletes and Jordan were “clumped together.” He said he remembered saying, “something to the effect of ‘his hands are cold as s**t; he checked out every hair on my ball,'” and said Jordan replied, “I have nothing to do with this” and walked away.

The wrestler also said that the abuse was brought to the attention of then- head coach Russ Hellickson, who intervened and put a stop to it:

The former wrestler said that then-OSU head wrestling coach Russ Hellickson put the sexual abuse to a stop. “When they brought it to Russ, he (Strauss) was dismissed from being around the wrestling team.”

This is the second account of a former wrestler claiming that head coach Hellickson intervened, and it directly contradicts Hellickson’s written defense of Jordan from only yesterday, that claims that no one knew about the abuse, including Hellickson. In fact, Hellickson reportedly appears on a video in which he claims he knew and intervened.

Oddly, the CNN story says this is the fifth wrestler to come forward. In fact, he’s the 9th. See my tally here.
