CNN: White House lawyers “cringing” over Trump’s attacks on judges considering Muslim ban

CNN reports that Trump’s own lawyers in the White House and the Justice Department are “cringing” today over Trump’s ongoing attacks against the judges deciding on the constitutionality of his Muslim ban.

Trump said today that “a bad high school student” would know to decide in his favor. Trump also called the judges “so political.”

Earlier this week, Trump said that any future terrorist attacks would be blamed on the judges hearing the case:

Trump also suggested that the judges should decide the case based on their own petty concerns of how the public perceives them:

“But I have to be honest that if these judges wanted to, in my opinion, help the court in terms of respect for the court, they do what they should be doing,” he added. “It’s so sad.”

And then we learn from CNN today that lawyers at the Justice Department and the White House itself are “cringing” over Trump’s comments.

These ongoing leaks — and they’re usually leaks that incriminate Trump — are a disaster for Trump. His own people are already turning against him. It’s amazing.

Context of the law is questioned by liberals, not Trump. Liberals add their own laws.

  2. Ken Bull says:

The constitution shouldn’t be questioned by liberal standards as they tend to insert their own ideals that question motive, not law.

He doesn’t seem to understand context. Political verses legal. Bullying reporters and others is one thing. Bullying the judges hearing your case is probably not …….advantageous.
He really is nuts. I don’t see how the country comes out of this without major scars.

If any of us did that, we would be held in contempt.

  6. Demosthenes says:

Purely as a matter of legal strategy, Don the Con attacking judges will cause those hearing his cases to view him less favorably. In short, Trump’s bloviating will hurt him. This is the latest evidence that Trump is insane.

  7. goulo says:

Ha ha, idiot Trump angrily tweeted that senator Richard Blumenthal “misrepresents” what Gorsuch told him… but Gorsuch’s spokesman confirmed that Gorsuch said it.

  8. goulo says:

FWIW I know that one federal judge (James Robart in Seattle) who blocked Trump’s order was appointed by George Bush.

Apparently Drumpf’s own SCOTUS pick is shaking his head and saying he’s “disheartened” by the remark:

  10. Quilla says:

“Cringing”? Sorry, not enough. Donald should be frog marched out of the White House and locked in his gold bathroom at Trump Tower until the next century. Enough of this foolish catering to a person of unsound mind who needs to be immediately removed from this job.

  11. Glen Thompson says:

Just curious — what’s the party affiliation of the dissenting judges? It would be great if we had some Republicans amongst them.
