Elizabeth Warren blasts Trump as sexist, reckless, dangerous, bully

US Senator Elizabeth Warren excoriated presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump this week on twitter.

It began several days ago when Warren blasted Trump for his “sexism & xenophobia,” and really hit Trump hard in a series of Tweets on Wednesday of this week.

In the tweets, Warren attacked Trump for opposing the minimum wage, belching insults, being dangerous and reckless, having an embarrassing record, and scamming students with Trump University.

But my personal favorite was Warren taking Trump to task for his creepy attacks on women:

There have been a number of stories lately about Warren potentially becoming Hillary Clinton’s vice presidential running mate. While Warren says she’s “nothing thinking about another job,” some see a Clinton-Warren ticket as a Democratic dream team.

And it’s certainly clear from the Tweets below, and Warren’s long record taking on Wall Street while in Congress, that Warren would give Trump a run for his money.

Here are Warren’s latest tweets:

And here are Warren’s earlier Tweets:

And here are two of Warren’s best speeches:

I saw a lot of Warren’s opinions, but she made no arguments.

  • Johnny Worm

Warren can not run as VP, she is way too populist to take a back seat for anyone.
And to claim HRC and Trump are of the same cloth(other than wealthy cloth) is just, plain ignorant.
One has a track record of public(dis) service, the other has never been held accountable by the public through elective politics and therefore has no track record from which to guestimate policy preferences.
But I guess for the haters of government, everyone (except for themselves) is all the same.
    More false equivalency nonsense.

  • No need to apologize. The word is apt.

  • kladinvt

Elizabeth Warren should be our first female President!

  • Phil in FLL

OK, my apologies for using the overwrought word “stalking.” I mentioned you, the moderators, because on John’s post of 5/5 (“Why it matters that the Bushes are abandoning Trump”), I asked heimaey if he could give me a link to those of John’s tweets that he considered racist. I just wanted to see them and make up my own mind. In his reply, heimaey strangely mentioned you, the moderators (?!):

  • Phil in FLL

As I told the moderator, I was only interested in a link since I don’t read Twitter a lot. Twitter can get kind of involved and complicated, and I just was curious to see what heimaey was referring to on these various threads (without me scanning through large amounts of tweets).

  • Phil in FLL

All I asked for was a link to what heimaey was referring to, and I got the strange reply that he thought the moderators would object. If he doesn’t want to share a link to show me what he’s talking about, that fine. I just thought his reply on the other thread about the moderators objecting was an odd reply.

  • 2karmanot

Oh please, save the scolding. Heimaey has been on these threads for years and is hardly a stalker. You, however, have had your moments of, well, let’s just say ‘moments’ and no one is salting your tail.

  • 2karmanot

Exactly. For over a decade I would read AB daily…..now, well, have moved on to JMG

  • Maybe she’ll run in 4 years.

  • Blogvader

    She’s not wrong.

It’s unfortunate she didn’t step up and go for the nomination. I’d much rather vote for her than Hillary Clinton.

  • Moderator3

John is a big boy, and he knows how to use the controls. He is quite capable of handling this. He’ll make the proper decision.

  • Maybe I’m a stalker? I really don’t care if people think so because I think about a lot of other things in my life and I know I’m not but based on just these forums I can see how you could come to that conclusion.

In a broader sense I think John is emblematic of what’s wrong with the left these days and he’s a journalist so open for criticism in my opinion. Don’t run and operate a blog and post opinions if you don’t want critiques. Or at least close the forums if you don’t want to be challenged.

  • Bill_Perdue

Both will be doing a lot a shifting to and fro and a lot of baby kissing in the coming months but both are so widely disliked and mistrusted that they won’t have much effect.

Although it may help HRH HRC to raise more money. “But in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” which aired Sunday morning, billionaire industrialist and philanthropist of the far-right Charles Koch says given the performance of former president Bill Clinton and her own record, he thinks “it’s possible” that a Hillary Clinton presidency would be better at fulfilling his libertarian and pro-business agenda than any of the Republicans currently in the running.

Asked by journalist Jonathan Karl if he could actually see himself supporting Clinton in a hypothetical general election against Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, or John Kasich – Koch smiled, but didn’t say no.

“We would have to believe her actions would be quite different than her rhetoric. Let me put it that way,” Koch responded.” http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/04/24/its-possible-koch-brother-says-hillary-clinton-might-be-best-choice-him

  • I don’t think Warren is interested in running with Hillary – for many reasons – so I think this is all highly speculative anyway and likely moot anyway. Maybe they can get her to run with Hillary but it’s no secret she doesn’t really like her and if she were to run with HRC it might be a bad thing because some VPs are influential (think Cheney) and some just mostly sit in the background (think Quayle) and HRC and Warren differ enough that I don’t think Warren would like to be silenced very much.

I don’t know what you’re talking about me crying regarding criticizing Republicans…because I think they’re all worse than HRC.

  • Again, I honestly don’t know what Hillary believes and I don’t know what Trump believes either he’s just a little bit more open about switching his position but what you said is mostly true.

  • Phil in FLL

OK, heimaey, from one perspective your recent string of comments about John’s tweets might be amusing, but from another perspective they might be considered stalking. The accusation above is that John’s tweets are sexist, and below is one of your recent comments where you describe John’s tweets as racist. On an earlier thread, I asked if you could simply point me to one or more examples of this, and you told me that you thought the Americablog moderators might object.

    Shout-out: H-e-l-l-o-o-o-o-o, Americablog moderators.

Heimaey, I certainly don’t know, but my guess is that the Americablog moderators wouldn’t object if you simply copied and pasted the URL address to link to one of John’s tweets that you considered racist or sexist. I don’t even know what the context of the Twitter conversation was, so it’s impossible to assess your claim. I do know, however, that you’re repeating your accusation over and over again on many of John’s threads. For that reason, you need to provide readers with some light on the subject. I don’t think the moderators would object to links, but correct me if I’m wrong, moderators. As I said above, this is all entertaining, but it’s starting to border on stalking.

  • Bill_Perdue

    Release the transcripts.

  • gratuitous

Upset? I said “please.” And I didn’t even address your little sock puppet. You seem touchy and bitter. For some reason.

  • Phil in FLL

I think your assessment of Bill may have been true many, many, many years ago… in Bill’s youth. However, his writing now makes it pretty clear that—out of bitterness—he just doesn’t want people to endanger conservative Republican victory. Think about all the hateful things he’s said over the years about the U.S. and, by extension, the population that lives in this country. Bill’s writing makes it clear that he wants bad things to happen to Americans, and of course, conservative Republican victory would be a bad thing that would make lots of people suffer.

  • Phil in FLL

“She wants to be left cover for HRH HRCs long right wing record…

Bill’s question and your reply assume that Elizabeth Warren’s motive is to provide “cover” for Hillary in some way. Another possibility is that, like many Americans, Warren is simply criticizing Trump for the many absurd statements that he’s made. Please do not assume that you can read Elizabeth Warren’s mind and ascribe unworthy motives to her. You really don’t know that her motives are the unsavory motives that you say they are.

Over and above that, you and Bill are exhibiting a knee-jerk Republican reaction throughout all of these threads. You cry like a baby every time anyone from the Democratic side criticizes the Republican front runner. I’m sure we’ll all be treated to your knee-jerk Republican reactions right up until the general election. Aren’t Americablog readers lucky?

  • Bill_Perdue

The have the same policies based on their record. (In an election their lies don’t count.)

    Both favor wars of aggression.

Both have long records of union busting and support for anti-working class policies like NAFTA and deregulation.

Both are long time bigots in the process of rebranding.

Both are genuine and rabid enemies of the Bill of Rights.

Both have long histories of racism.

There no reason to expect either of them to change no matter what they say during an election campaign.

  • I don’t think they are really the same but my friend ask me to describe what grade I’d give HRC on her campaign and I said an F and he said what would you give Trump, then? And I said an F-. I said in more clear terms Hillary would get a 58% on this if were a test and Trump would get a 20% but still both fail. One just fails a lot more than the other.

John Stewart laid out my biggest issue with HRC – she’s smart, definitely smart, but I don’t know what she believes. She believes whatever her staff and her decide would bring the most positive attention her way on that day and so in her heart – who knows.

  • dcinsider

Glad to see she is coming out of her shell.

  • He’s asking a fair question. Trump is a nut bag – why doesn’t HRC release her transcripts as we’ve been asking for months and months? We seem to expect more from her so what’s she got to hide? The criteria has been met (that she laid out) yet she still won’t do it. It leads me to believe there’s something in there she doesn’t want us to see. In short, both are not being transparent on a similar issue so calling Trump out on this doesn’t do her any favors.

MSNBC and Fox are mirrors except that each supports a different band of capitalism and different homphobes.

As for the right wing press Fox News and MSNBC share one trait in common – bigotry.

Regarding the passage of Putin’s antigay laws MSNBC either exercised self censorship to keep the franchise for the Sochi Olympics or simply bowed to the demands of the bigot Putin. NBC was fully aware of the progress of the Russian bigot law as early as 2006: “Human Rights Watch (HRW) notes that before Sochi was chosen for the 2014 games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and their stakeholders, including American multinational sponsors of the Winter Olympics, as well as NBC Universal, which has the broadcast contract, carefully tracked the path of the legislation… .”

    via JMG

They continue to have a cozy relationship with Putin. “Openly gay MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts will host the 2013 Miss Universe competition in Russia, replacing Bravo star Andy Cohen, who turned the host position down because he’s “concerned for his safety” as a gay
man in a country with anti-gay laws.”

Ever wonder why MSNBC seems to be programming non-stop anti-Trump coverage? Could it be that Comcast has a vested interest? When I read things like this, it makes me question my allegiance to the Democratic Party. Thomas Frank, I hear you.

  • Bill_Perdue

    You seem so upset.

  • gratuitous

I wasn’t talking to you. Please to be pissing off now.

  • Bill_Perdue

I’m not upset, but I am curious about why some people don’t realize that HRH Trump and HRH HRC are the same. It seems so obvious, at least for people who can see. The 2016 election looks to be between two equally disgusting and widely disliked members of the ruling class, HRH Trump and HRH HRC.

Both are Robin Hood figures in reverse. Both are rabid and unappealing racists. Both are mad dog warmongers. Both are involved up their necks in various schemes to steal from the poor and give to the rich.

Gore Vidal’s description of the quadrennial American clown competitions is more precise than he could have imagined. “There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party … and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat. Republicans are a bit stupider, more rigid, more doctrinaire in their laissez-faire capitalism than the Democrats, who are cuter, prettier, a bit more corrupt — until recently … and more willing than the Republicans to make small adjustments when the poor, the black, the anti-imperialists get out of hand. But, essentially, there is no difference between the two parties.”

On November 8, 2016 vote Socialist or Labor, vote for good referendums and if there aren’t any Left candidates write in Chelsea Manning or join the majority in sitting it out.

“It is better to vote for what you want and not get it than to vote for what you don’t want and get it.” – Eugene V. Debs

  • gratuitous

He’s upset because not everyone is as perfect as him. Of course, he hasn’t done anything to improve things, so by his own lights he’s every bit as imperfect. But being measured by the same measure he uses for others really sets him off. For some reason.

  • Sexist, racist, bully…reminds me of someone else on twitter….hmmmmm who could it be?

  • Still trying to find that cloud behind every silver lining, eh Bill? ;-)

  • Bill_Perdue

She wants to be left cover for HRH HRCs long right wing record of being a front for the rich. It’s not going to be easy.

“Take Hillary Clinton. Earlier this month, she said, “there can be no justification or tolerance for this kind of criminal behavior” that has been seen on Wall Street. She added that “while institutions have paid large fines and in some cases admitted guilt, too often it has seemed that the human beings responsible get off with limited consequences or none at all, even when they have already pocketed the gains.” Her campaign echoed the message with an email to supporters lauding Clinton for saying that “when Wall Street executives commit criminal wrongdoing, they deserve to face criminal prosecution.”

Clinton’s outrage sounds convincing at first—but then, audacity-wise, it starts to seem positively Trump-like when cross-referenced with campaign finance reports, foundation donations and speaking fees.

According to an Associated Press analysis, Clinton has already raked in more than $1.6 million worth of campaign contributions from donors in the same financial sector she is slamming on the campaign trail. Additionally, Clinton’s foundation took $5 million worth of donations from at least nine financial institutions that secured special deals to avoid prosecution—even as they admitted wrongdoing. The Clintons also accepted nearly $4 million in speaking fees from those firms since 2009.

Oh, and that anti-Wall Street email from Clinton’s campaign? It was authored by Clinton aide Gary Gensler, a onetime Goldman Sachs executive who later became a government officialhttp://www.truthdig.com/report/item/more_2016_candidates_embrace_the_donald_trump_zeitgeistincluding_hillary
