Ted Cruz just attacked Hillary Clinton. It backfired, big time.

A Ted Cruz staffer just Tweeted some “favorability polling” on Hillary Clinton, in an effort to show how “unpopular” she is.

What he didn’t tell you was that Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are doing far worse than Hillary in the polls.

Hillary and Cruz both have around a 55% unfavorable rating, while Trump’s unfavorables are at 64%.

And while Hillary’s favorable rating is 40%, Cruz’s is 33% and Trump’s is 30%.

What an odd thing for a Cruz staffer to want to draw attention to.

First, here’s the Cruz staffer’s Tweet about Hillary:

by default 2016-04-12 at 8.27.22 PM

And here is Hillary’s current Favorable to Unfavorable ratings:

by default 2016-04-12 at 8.40.19 PM

The thing is, below are Ted Cruz’s ratings, using the same scale the staffer used for Hillary’s. You’ll note that Ted Cruz’s favorable rating is so bad, it drops off the chart entirely. And Cruz’s unfavorables are taking off like a rocket:

ted-cruz-fav

And here are Ted Cruz’s latest numbers:

by default 2016-04-12 at 8.36.53 PM

And Donald Trump’s chart is even sadder than Cruz’s:

by default 2016-04-12 at 8.39.06 PMby default 2016-04-12 at 8.39.11 PM

Whatever Ted Cruz is paying this guy, it isn’t enough.

    Some Ted Cruz quotes:

“There is no place for gays or atheists in my America. None. Our Constitution makes that clear.” – at Liberty University 3/23/15

“Companies and small business should absolutely not only have the right to turn away gay customers, they should exercise that right. Universal condemnation may convince these people to stop choosing to be gay. – 3/31/15

“When gays stayed hidden we had no mass shootings; we had no public nudity. Society was polite. Now anything and everything goes and I blame them.” – at CPAC, 2014

“If the slaves were never freed in the Civil War, you have to wonder, where would Obama be today? Certainly not the White House, not in the capacity he’s in. And you have some in America that think that might not be a bad thing.” – on Hannity 6/16/14

“The last 24 hours at the United States Supreme Court were among the darkest hours of our nation.” – on June 27, 2015, the day after marriage equality victory

Notice how the press and other media tout this as the “bathroom bill”? Neat way to deflect attention from the other provisions in the bill that cause as much, nay even more harm to the citizens of North Carolina.

Pay particular attention to Part II and Part III.

Having that worthless hag as President is truly worrying.

  • Here: http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/bernie-sanders-favorable-rating

His unfavorability rating is currently around 42%, which is unfortunately rather high. Still, it’s better than Clinton’s.

  • Yes, it was that, but also I suspect coupled with the fact that by January 2013, Clinton was leaving the Secretary of State position, fairly obviously to run for President.

After that date, she had several disadvantages:
    1. She was no longer generating her own positive press by being out there in the world doing stuff for the country as SecState
    2. The GOPers had their anti-Clinton propaganda machine running full force
    3. Clinton was the presumptive Dem front-runner in a country which had learned with good reason to be wary of relatives of former Presidents running for the office

  • goulo

    That would be my guess!

  • Blogvader

And yet, in a week he narrowed the pledged delegate gap by a third.

I’m not sure how we reconcile favorability ratings with his recent string of wins, but it seems that going negative (or as we call it in America, politics) is working for him.

FWIW I do agree Sanders’s ratings will fall if the GOP starts attacking him more. (But the same is probably true of Clinton’s.)

(Setting aside partisan differences, it seems the nature of politics these days, alas: people seem to dislike most politicians a lot more than was typical in the past. Perhaps the internet contributes to that, where every misstep or misdemeanor is more easily and quickly made known to all? Or am I viewing the past through rose-colored glasses?)

  • Ty Morgan

    The whole Benghazi circus perhaps?

  • Sanders has lost the election, his favorability ratings are no longer relevant for the general election. But if you want to discuss them, Sanders’ ratings are falling, ever since he decided to go negative. Other than that, he hasn’t been fully vetted, as Hillary has refused to really take him on, lest she split the party come the fall. Once the GOP started to talk about Sanders’ “socialist” record, his numbers would plummet with anyone over 30. So I don’t think his numbers are real. But in any case, his numbers are no longer relevant for the fall.

  • Oh yeah, saw that one. One of them sure is pretty.

  • If you look at the charts, she was doing well until January 2013. I’m not sure what “that” was exactly. Perhaps the GOP, realizing she was going to run, turned their big guns on her?

  • Ty Morgan

I really don’t understand Clinton’s 55% unfavorable rating. Guess that’s what 25 years of constant barrage of faux scandals, innuendo, and conspiracy theories will do for you.

  • Bill_Perdue

In other news about HRH HRC she got “Three Pinocchios” for her bald faced lie about guns in NY coming from Vermont. “Hillary Clinton’s claim that the ‘highest per capita number’ of crime guns in New York come from Vermont”

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2016/04/12/hillary-clintons-claim-that-the-highest-per-capita-number-of-crime-guns-in-new-york-come-from-vermont/

WaPo readers increased her sentence for bald faced lying to “Four Pinocchios”.

Is it any wonder that “Democratic turnout has fallen drastically since 2008, the last time the party had a contested primary, with roughly three million fewer Democrats voting in the 15 states that held caucuses or primaries through Tuesday, according to unofficial election results. It declined in virtually every state, dropping by roughly 50 percent in states like Minnesota and Texas. In Arkansas, Alabama, and Georgia, the number of Democrats voting decreased by roughly a third.”

“The fall-off in Democratic primary turnout — which often reveals whether a candidate is exciting voters and attracting them to the polls — reached deeply into some of the core groups of voters Mrs. Clinton must not only win in November, but turn out in large numbers. It stands in sharp contrast to the flood of energized new voters showing up at the polls to vote for Donald J. Trump in the Republican contest.” http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/03/us/politics/hillary-clinton-voter-turnout.html?_r=0

Top Cruz supporters are behind the rabidly right wing anti-LGBTQ legislation in north Carolina.

“As he worked to rally evangelical voters a week before North Carolina’s March 15 primary, Ted Cruz gave a speech at a church in the Charlotte suburb of Kannapolis, where he was joined by a trio of prominent local social conservative supporters: Charlotte pastor and congressional candidate Mark Harris and the Benham brothers, the telegenic real estate entrepreneurs whose house-flipping show on HGTV was canceled in 2014 when their history of anti-gay activism came to light. At the event, Cruz thanked Harris for “calling the nation to revival,” and called David and Jason Benham “an extraordinary voice for the Christian faith.”

For years, Harris and the Benhams have been at the forefront of every battle to oppose gay rights in North Carolina. This past February, they were at it again, this time against a nondiscrimination ordinance proposed in Charlotte that, among other things, allowed transgender people to use public restrooms based on their gender identity and protected LGBT people from discrimination by public institutions.“http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2016/04/ted-cruz-advisers-north-carolina-anti-lgbt-bill

None of these bigoted ‘religious freedom’ laws, which are a form of political terrorism by bigots stung by the successful marriage campaign of the LGBTQ communities, could take effect if the Democrats had passed strong anti-discrimination laws during the past 40 years or so, but instead they tabled of junked them every time they had a chance of being enacted.

Perhaps Bernie is the BIG DONKEY in the room–hard to ignore. He’s also the voice for people that haven’t been heard in a very long time.

  • goulo

I was just noticing that, similarly to how the Cruz staffer forgot to mention Clinton’s ratings
which are more favorable, John forgot to mention Sanders’s ratings which are even more favorable…

Did this blog post therefore backfire, big time? ;)

  • Don Chandler

I wonder what Bernie’s favorable ratings are?

  • woodroad34

Such bad interpretations. Can you imagine him being president and coming to the wrong conclusions about anything? I’m sure he had a cute little button nose at one time; but, holy moly, look at that honker now! I’m sure he wishes he was a real boy.

But God….and three hours on their knees with Daddy…and messages to Goldman-Sachs employee Heidi….the American people just don;t know what’s best for them..Uncle Teddy does.

“Whatever Ted Cruz is paying this guy, it isn’t enough.”

Heh, considering the amateur blunder, he’s probably being paid too much.

  • Quilla

“Those people” are not ready for prime time.
