Marco Rubio’s new “Morning again in America” ad shows Vancouver, Canada

Marco Rubio is up with a new ad. It is quite depressing, yet rather hilarious as well. Check it out:

The ad’s doom and gloom isn’t what makes it interesting. As the Vancouver Sun pointed out this morning, the footage shown at the beginning of the ad — when the narrator says that “It’s morning again in America”  — is “unmistakably Vancouver.” As in Vancouver, Canada.

As they write, “The Florida senator’s latest campaign ad, titled Morning Again in America, opens with three seconds of beautiful stock footage featuring our skyline and harbour.”

In case the skyline wasn’t a clear enough indication that the footage is a patriotic homage to a foreign country, the tugboat shown chugging along in front of the Vancouver skyline is flying the red maple leaf Canadian flag (near the back of the boat).

I guess it’s morning in Canada, too!

I guess since naturally born Canadian citizen Ted Cruz is doing better than him, Rubio decided to make Canada his adopted homeland too.

  • Once again, the truth simply doesn’t matter, not if it gets in the way of a demagogue’s big lie message.

What Marco Rubio is saying is that for the average person, things are much better in a country with more socialism and equality than we have. Now, I can agree with that! After all, the Canadians have had full blown Universal Healthcare for decades, quite unlike Obamacare, which is only a weak tea version of Canadian Universal Healthcare. One more thing…the Canadians had their election only recently, and it lasted all of six weeks (They don’t have “Citizens United” or multi-billion dollar election campaigns).

  • One of the problems is that Republicans have repeatedly dictated changes to how we measure employment, so as to make employers (namely, large corporations) look better. So at this point, we simply don’t have an effective way of determining just how many people, who could be in the work force but are unemployed, with any real accuracy. Everybody knows that the U3, the “official” measure, is laughably imprecise. The other data coming out of the BLS isn’t much better. Not to mention, we have more underemployment (ie, people making far less than they need to support their families.) than ever – but again, no real effective means of accurately calculating the data. So, with no accurate data, candidates can make whatever claims they want. It’s all ripe fruit for an angry, ignorant people who have spent the last two Presidential administrations steadily losing ground.

If it was a hit piece on Cruz, he should have used Calgary.

More people unemployed than anytime in our history? I guess Marco has forgotten the Great Depression of the 1930’s and the Great Recession brought to us by the GOP in 2008. What a fucking liar.
