Seriously don’t knock on the glass at a hockey game (video)

A very excited woman at a hockey game last Thursday night decided to go up the glass and pound on it as the players were skating by.

Unfortunately, she got more of an up-close experience than she’d bargained for.

This was apparently a Montreal Canadiens vs. Columbus Blue Jackets NHL game.

I slowed it down in the clip above. You can see it real time in the clip below. Basically, one player checked the other into the glass, the glass (or plastic, whatever it is) bowed, and the lady went flying back into her seat. In the video, it’s clear she went down pretty hard. She’s lucky she wasn’t hurt (I’ve been googling and can’t find any more info on her).

Man in sportsland are not too sympathetic to the lady. Apparently, a lot of them aren’t too thrilled with people who bang on the glass.

    Well played, sir.

The check was very clearly aimed at the player, not the spectator. You can tell this because he checks the player, and the player who was checked had the puck at the time.

Banging on the glass is kind of uncouth. Do you want someone banging on your windows at work or at home? Nevertheless, if she had been significantly injured and the check was an reaction to her banging, the players ought to be charged with assault.

As a Blackhawks fan I have no sympathy for her. I’ve gone to many games since I was 13 years old. She’s the first one I’ve seen do this. I can’t imagine the people in back of her weren’t telling her to sit down.

Physics isn’t fact. Indeed, there are many scientists who don’t agree with the “scientific consensus” on physics; so I demand they be given equal time to offer their viewpoint on this controversial subject!

    Physics wins. Every time.

She’ll probably end up suing the NHL, both teams, the Nationwide Arena and the city of Columbus for millions for “emotional distress, embarrassment, and punitive damages”.

    Well… who’s got who’s attention now?

NHL regulation Acrylite is actually supposed to be flexible, specifically to absorb player impacts exactly like that. Glass bangers are generally seen as the degenerates among hockey fans, which is probably why she hasn’t garnered much sympathy.
