Amazing helicopter landing on ship deck in rough seas (video)

It’s an amazing video, with a god-awful soundtrack, of a military helicopter landing on the deck of a rather small ship in rough seas.

Especially when you watch the beginning of the video and see the extent to which the deck of the ship is just rolling with the waves.  It’s amazing they can land in these conditions.

Here’s the actual ship, check out how small that landing pad is:

And here’s the actual landing, with the full video below. Make sure you turn your sound off when watching this video (I still think the Stand Your Ground law should be extended to people who put soundtracks on their YouTube videos.)

  • Thanks! I’m trying to experiment with animated gifs more, A) because it’s fun for me to play with them, and B) sometimes they give a nice window into the videos. Especially in this case, that first one is insane with the choppy water.

Those Amazon delivery drones are amazing!

  • The Canadian military developed a grapple system so they can land helicopters more safely in choppy waters… and equalize the charge built up by the rotor blades, without zapping anyone on deck.

  • I for one say the animated gifs are done quite well! Great compacting of a youtube vid down to a handful of frames for encapsulation..

Isn’t that a cool word? sounds almost like its own magic spell….

I would imagine he wanted to check his shorts after that landing. ;-)
