In an astounding claim, the Russian government yesterday defended a neo-Nazi group for orchestrating nearly 1,500 mostly-anti-gay kidnappings across Russia in the past 18 months.
By some estimates, 24 million Russians lost their lives to the Nazis in World War II.
The Russians, angered over a British television documentary exposing a nationwide anti-gay kidnapping ring, then denied that the neo-Nazi abductions had occurred at all, claiming that there is no proof of the crimes, even though the abductors filmed their crimes and posted them widely on Russian social media network VK.com and YouTube.
And the videos, at least on VK, but some on YouTube as well, can still be found online.
The group conducting the kidnappings is called Occupy Pedophilia, and it has 30 branches across Russian and Ukraine.
Occupy Pedophilia goes online and lures (mostly young, it seems from the videos) gays for dates or sex, and then when they show up, they are abducted by a dozen men who often beat them, strip them naked, tie them up, shave their head, paint rainbows on their scalp, draw Stars of David on their chest (if they’re Jewish), force them to drink urine (to “cure” them of their homosexuality), and then interrogate them on camera about their “crimes.” The videos are then posted online, and the gays’ lives are destroyed.
It’s beyond barbaric that the Russian government, rather than investigating these hate crimes, chooses to simply deny them. And then to claim that to the extent they did happen, they’re defensible. Why? Because the victims were supposedly “pedophiles.” In fact, most of the victims are gay, because Russians, who are supremely homophobic, tend to conflate the two issues.
The Russians are also claiming that you can find the same kind of crimes in Great Britain (and America). In fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find a nationwide conspiracy to commit hate crimes against a minority in either the UK or the US, and certainly not 1,500 kidnappings in the span of 18 months (which Occupy Pedophilia claims).
But what’s more, in America and Great Britain, the government actually investigates crimes against gays, and pretty much everyone else. The government does not, however, deny that the crimes even happened, video evidence to the contrary, and they most certainly don’t issue a defense of the perpetrators.
Not to mention, the perpetrators have repeatedly publicly admitted to their crimes. Why not at least investigate them if they’ve already confessed?
The St. Petersburg head of the group, Ekaterina Zigunova (the red-head in the photos below), recently permitted the UK’s channel 4 to film the abduction, beating and torture of a young gay man. It was broadcast in Britain last week, and made its way online in America as well for a short while.
The video is gruesome. I’ve grabbed a number of screen shots from the video in an earlier post. Here they are (you’ll find much more about the video via that link):
I counted over 80 videos of these abductions on only two VK.com accounts last night. There are countless more on that network. The videos leave nothing to the imagination. These are real. These are vicious. These are hate crimes.
Oh, and the videos always include the faces of the perpetrators, so it’s not like its rocket science finding out who they are.
It’s interesting that the Russians have claimed that the issue is no longer relevant, as they recently arrested the head of the group, Maxim Martsinkevich. In fact, the Russians refused to arrest him for 18 months while he posted proof of his crimes online. And, they only arrested him a month ago after CNN reported on his crimes, and the fact that the Russians weren’t interested in stopping him.
Funny thing, though. The Russians didn’t charge Martsinkevich with any of the nearly 1,500 kidnappings that Occupy Pedophilia claims to have committed. Instead they charged him with insulting the memory of World War II veterans. God forbid the Russians actually enforce their law against kidnapping when a gay person is the victim.
Of course, the Russian government has no qualms about insulting the memory of World War II veterans via the government’s own praising and coddling of Nazis.
After Martsinkevich was arrested, the Russians didn’t bother going after any of the other 30 Occupy Pedophilia chapters in the country.
And they didn’t bother going after Zigunova, who continues to look for volunteers to help her abduct more gays (she has several help-wanted ads up at VK.com, for assistance in pulling off the kidnappings, which they call “safaris,” since they’re hunting gays).
Here’s one current help-wanted ad on VK.com, seeking assistance for the abductions:
Another curious thing. How can the Russians brag about arresting the head of the group, if they claim the group has done nothing wrong, and in fact has done good? Which way is it – is Martsinkevich a villain or a hero?
Let me close with a bit more proof of the crimes the Russian government claims have never happened, and thus don’t need to be investigated.
What a bitterly backward awful country.
None of these happened. Right.
