Instead he opened the passenger door and slid over to the driver's seat so he could get even closer to the employees." (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)

My favorite pictures are not from the White House because they depict a different class reality, one of people fighting for their rights and livelihoods. In the coming year these people will make history.

    Don’t forget Sunny!

I am so proud of this great President, VP, Family, and Bo, to represent our great nation!!!

  • Whitewitch

Can we send these to the right wing blogs and papers – they only post pictures of the President looking really mad…or Michelle frowning…maybe they don’t know there are nice pictures out there.

  • woodroad34

They were all just terrific pictures; my favorites were the Maxine McNair one, the President holding the little baby, and the man saluting Obama. All I kept thinking about was what if it had been George Bush in those pictures–especially aboard the aircraft carrier–and all I could think of was “Mission Accomplished” and the parachute straps framing a visual of Bush’s personality….Obama is more presidential looking and acting than the kid from Texas could ever be.

Oh, and then there’s this little bit of how much better off we are with Obama (from CNN): The Dow and S&P 500 ended 2013 at record highs. All three major indexes posted gains exceeding 26% for the year.

The Dow gained more than 70 points for the day, marking the 52nd record high of 2013.

Let’s see, 9 years ago (two years before the end of the Bush era, I buhlieve) we were experiencing the worst recession….EVER! Every conservative financial pundit and every not-so-conservative financial pundit were unanimous in their claims that it would take 20 years to recover–apparently the Junior Senator from Illinois–cum President–disagreed. Remember how Bush kept saying jobs were going to surpass 200,000 in one particular quarter and they only increased by 20,000– prolonging his economic legacy?

Our nation has many faults, but the photo of Thelma Maxine Pippen McNair shows how far we’ve come.

  • S1AMER

Yeah, but he’ll be kidded about that for the rest of his life!

What a great keepsake for when he grows up.

Dear God I hope they woke that kid up! What a great picture.
