Bad British basketball commentary (video)

From the same guy who brought us “Bad British baseball commentary,” we now have “Bad British basketball commentary.”

Anthony Richardson is apparently a British comedian, and all around funny guy, who, with friends Mark Davison and Ben Tonge, produces the YouTube channel The Exploding Heads, which is responsible for both videos and more.

Richardson told me that the baseball video, which we’d posted a while ago (it’s at the bottom of this story), was the first time he’d actually watched a baseball game. Do watch it if you haven’t seen it, it’s IMHO even funnier than his basketball one. But here are both of them, you can decide for yourself.

Those clips remind me a lot of Alan Partridge’s commentaries on The Day Today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWlnyxSDshk

Notice that Betty mentions the sponsors at the end of it? That was cool.

“…and runs away like a man who’s let one go in a phone box.” Priceless.

Just in time, although not as funny as the baseball video.

College basketball season starts today here in Indiana. Indiana University opens tonight with exhibition game against Southern Indiana at 7:00 pm in Assembly Hall. Worked last 15 years of my career in that building before retiring almost three years ago. I have held on to my tickets, and was rewarded prior two years with runs to Sweet 16 by the Hoosiers. This year, expectations not so great, major turn over in team as strongest players graduated or opted to skip last year of eligibility and go pro.

Last year I gave the Michigan State tickets to a good friend and colleague who heads up IT in another area of campus, so he could take one of his kids, who had never been to a game. Others could not believe I had let him have them at face value, they were going for between 500 – 1,000 a pair on secondary markets. But you cannot buy love, or friendship. At least I believe that.

And speaking of sports, and by that I mean of course the Winter Olympics in Sochi….Betty Bowers America’s Best Christian has something to say.

    You’re welcome.

Kudos to these guys. You’ll never hear Dick Vitale say “Blimey!”

I have listened to British commentary on the radio during Wimbledon and the French Open. It’s like tennis commentary by characters from “Chicken Run”.
