Shot in head by Taliban, amazing 16 y.o. education advocate leaves Jon Stewart speechless

This is a rather amazing video of 16 year old Nobel Peace Prize nominee Malala Yousafzai, an education activist from Pakistan who was shot in the head at the age of 15 in a Taliban-backed assassination attempt, and survived.

Malala is an advocate for the education of young girls, something the Taliban bans, and something they deem worthy of the death penalty, even if the victim is a 15 year old girl. Simply amazing.

At one point in the interview, explaining a near run-in with a member of the Taliban, she explains her philosophy of life. Stewart is left speechless.

That was courageous of her, asking the worst terrorist in the world to stop being a terrorist.

Obama is going to continue to murder civilians, including American civilians like Anwar al-Aulaqi, Samir Khan, ‘Abd al-Rahman Anwar al-Aulaqi and Jude Mohammed, using all the weapons at his disposal.

Obama’s goal is to protect and extend US efforts to create corporate and military hegemony of the US from Tunisia to Indonesia using terrorism as his principle weapon. He uses drones, gives white phosphorous to the zionist colonial regime in Palestine to use in densely populated Gaza and he, the Bushes and the Clintons used genocide in Iraq.

Nothing is going to stop Obama and his successors in the Democrat and Republican parties until the union left and the political left left unite to create workers parties and a workers state.

Then we can pass constitutional amendments to forbid war to aid corporations and also laws to make it a capital offense to plot and lie to promote wars of aggression. And we can call for an International War Crimes Tribunal to investigate the role of the Bushes, Clinton and Obama in US wars against Iraq and Afghanistan.

I could not help while listening to her speak but remember when, as a teenager, I encountered and read the writings of Mahatma Gandhi. She speaks from the same deep well of belief in the capacity of humanity to be good. It is still hard for me having lived my 67 years in the United States to even begin to comprehend the violence and hatred that cultures such as the Taliban preach and practice. It is hard to understand how, in the 21st century, men are willing to murder young women who simply ask for an education and some modicum of rights as a human being.

John has to deal with the legal issues of what is allowed to be embedded, based on the copyright of the owners of the video. And Comedy Channel is pretty strict on policing their intellectual property rights. So it is really not that simple as you imply.

  8. Mark, you’re suggesting that I stop posting any videos from Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert. I can’t really agree to that. You should seriously consider purchasing and using a VPN. It’s what I use when I’m abroad, and even at home as it helps keep you a bit more anonymously. I use Private Internet Access. It’s nt that expensive, ridiculously easy to install on a computer, and will solve all of your problems.

  9. MARK says:

John, can you please use video links that are visible outside the US? It’s frigging annoying when you post a clip and I’ve got to hunt over the web to find a different source, cause all I get from your Daily Show links is a picture that says “SORRY, BUT THIS VIDEO IS UNAVAILABLE FROM YOUR LOCATION. BUT AT LEAST YOU HAVE KANGAROOS AND BOOMERANGS.”

So, tell me again how Jon Stewart is just a lowly comedian, and how he should not be considered a credible source for news?

What a great and powerful interview… and Americans saw it on Comedy Central.

Upworthy is really jumping the shark.. I think their contributors are realizing how hard it is to keep coming up with videos that will “CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE THE WORLD” or “SHOCK YOU” or “LEAVE YOU IN TEARS”. Their style of writing copy is being adopted all over the web, though, which is getting annoying. (This is a general observation, nothing to do with this video in particular.)

Truly an amazing young woman. I hope her and her family can stay safe.

  19. BeccaM says:

Unintentionally hilarious headline: Pakistani Taliban issues a statement saying that Malala Yousafzai had done nothing worthy of winning an international award.

And immediately follow that up with a renewed threat to kill her. And to kill any Pakistani shopkeepers who sell her book.

Yeah, she’s done nothing of merit, riiiiight.

  20. Dave of the Jungle says:

I loves me that young woman.

  21. arcadesproject says:

Malala is an out-of-sight young woman who has a chance to make a big positive difference in the world. But I fear for her and her family because Moriarty is out there and he is very potent. (Let us hope not more so than the forces of good but I am beginning to wonder…)

  22. Drew2u says:

She has more sense than half of America put together. I commend her parents on raising such an intelligent and philosophical daughter. Everyone, especially all teenage girls to whom education is seen as mundane thing even in today’s America, needs to watch this interview.
