Russian military point guns at school kids, fire blanks, during school ceremony (video)

Not much to say about this one, other than WTF?

To apparently celebrate the first day of classes this year, a Moscow school thought it wise to have men dressed in military gear point their guns at first graders, at point blank range.

(The YouTube page says they’re Russian Interior Ministry Special Forces.  These are the troops often used to break up gay rights protests, and have the unfortunate name “OMON,” which in Russia, spelled backwards, reads “HOMO”).

At another point during the fun, the troops opened fire with blanks while, again, their guns were pointed at the crowd of kids.

I honestly wouldn’t even know where to begin with this. Just watch the video.

So what are they going to do next Year then?

  • Rob Dowdy

There’s a lot of ground between acknowledging the truth and wisdom in what you say and what Bill does, don’t you think?

He runs screaming into many of the conversations around here attempting to shame us for having any other conversation than that supported by his approved anti-government talking points. We’re not allowed to talk about Russia! The US is the enemy, how dare we besmirch the homeland of his beloved Lenin! Then he shouts us down as being poor examples of Americans and humans because we don’t want to live happily ever after in his worker’s paradise.

I never once went into the Obama/Syria threads and bothered him. Not once. He has come into every Russia thread, starting way back with the original vodka boycott, to tell us all how hypocritical and morally repugnant we are for daring to care about gays in Russia instead of agitating for the overthrow of the US government. Literally. That is literally what he does.

Then he posts random pictures in the Russia threads of decades-old mutilated corpses and sneers about our “concern” for Russian children with assault weapons being fired at them for fun. Because there is only one conversation, you see, only one conversation we are allowed to have. Ever. And that’s his conversation.

Don’t take my being fed up with all that as my being some Obama-loving establishment sycophant.

    And I’ve just realized something.

    Give it a rest.

    That’s excellent advice. Thank you.

They have to get real close because children are such small targets.

    I couldn’t agree more!

  • http://adgitadiaries.com/ karmanot

Give it a rest. You don’t seem to have a clue about Kent State. Those of us who were around then are ever mindful of it. It is a dangerous nativity to think it was an isolated event. Apparently you can’t draw the parallels required to understand the history of American military genocide against natives peoples here. Further, 40 years ago is yesterday for some of us. As for a pathological hatred of the government, your lack of questioning and conscientiously opposing authority may come to haunt you when you have been around as long as some of us.

  • Bill_Perdue

You’re stalking me, not the other way around. You stalk me with personal attacks because you’re afraid that political attacks will reveal your right wing politics.

There are others but two are enough to prove that you’re laying and whining when you get caught.

When you have something real to say get back to us.

  • Rob Dowdy

Do you actually read the things you claim to be replying to?

  • Bill_Perdue

Yes you want to cut off discussion and you sound just like FLL.

I want to compare the actions of a war criminal and history of the barbaric treatment of Americans by Democrats and Republicans and compare with a school ground military display. As I said, in Russia it produced squeals but in America it produces dead students at Jackson and Kent State and at the Chicano Moratorium in LA.

It produces uncounted thousands of dead youth from Libya to Pakistan.

You don’t have any political answers for that so you and FLL complain, endlessly, about my right to speak. Get over it.

  • Butch1

I’m not so sure of the third one either. ;-

  • Rob Dowdy

You say I want to cut off discussion. Really? I have not said one peep to you in any of the several Obama/Syria threads because what you are saying in there is relevant to the thread.

Here, on the other hand, I am not trying to cut off discussion of Obama, I’m just asking you, please, let us talk about what this thread is supposed to be about without you cutting off the discussion of Russia and replacing it with more “Obama is the greatest war criminal of all time” stuff. There are threads for that, right? And I haven’t said a word to you in any of them because I’d be out of line.

So no one is saying what you should or should not feel / care about / talk about, I’m just asking you to exercise some judiciousness in where you do it. You seem put out at my having the temerity to question you and what you should be talking about or concerned about, but that is exactly what you do, Bill, on every Russia thread John creates. Every single one. We try to talk about Russia and you come in to tell us how foolish we are, that we should be talking about Obama instead. Why can’t we talk about both of those things, each in their proper place?

That’s all I’m asking. And to answer your question:

and you want to cut off discussion. Who does that sound like.

That sounds like you, Bill, coming into a thread about what’s going on in Russia and explaining to us why we should be talking about Obama instead.

  • Bill_Perdue

Wrong. You stalk me with personal attacks because you’re afraid that political attacks will reveal your right wing politics.

  • Bill_Perdue

That’s because Obama is the world’s worst war criminal.

Don’t worry about how I sound. It only sounds bad to those who like Obama because he’s responsible for the mass murders from Libya to Afghanistan. I’ll talk about what I want to talk about because I’m a leftist who thinks the main enemy of LGBT workers who need ENDA, and for now an administrative ENDA and who want peace are in the WH and Congress.

I can multi-task and do that as well as offer a cogent analysis of what Putin’s up to and why and have been doing that long before you and FLL ever dreamed of what was going on over there.

  • olandp

Except he appears to be only 6. Now he is following me (kind of like a persistent case of crabs!)

  • olandp

Now he is my follower, I’m so lucky…

  • Rob Dowdy

I can picture him encountering a child, devastated by the loss of a beloved pet. “How dare you cry for your insignificant cur,” he would scold, “when there are thousands of puppies and kittens dying all over the world in kill shelters! Why aren’t you crying for them, you sniveling, ungrateful brat? Get your priorities straight and fight for what matters, you worthless fool, you’re almost 9 years old! Be a man!”

  • Monoceros Forth

I thought of Jon-Erik Hexum too. An accident, supposedly, though I used to know someone who was sure it was suicide and that Hexum knew very well what a blank would do to his head.

(Got a spite down-vote there I notice. Gee, I wonder from whom.)

  • Rob Dowdy

All you said is the same thing you always say. Every single time John posts a Russia update you come charging in to scold us all for twittering over trivialities while the unspeakable evil that is Barack Obama roams the world drinking the blood of innocent babies and raping puppies. Or maybe vice versa, or, hell, both.

You do it every single time. You accuse me of derailing the conversation, but the only conversation you’re willing to let us have, ever, is what is to be done about the evil that is the United States Federal Government and the mythical monster of old who has risen from the very depths of hell to bathe the world in the unholy flames of damnation.

It makes you sound hysterical. A modern day Cassandra, forecasting the doom that everyone refuses to believe in.

Sometimes, Bill, just sometimes, we want to talk about the actual items of interest that John posts here and not be dragged into another tedious lecture on the horrors of your great black whale.

  • Bill_Perdue

No politics, just personal attacks from a bankrupt Obama idolater. When you have something real to say instead of vomiting personal hatreds all over the internet get back to us.

  • olandp

Well, at least you got part of the second sentence. Perhaps your tutor can help you with the rest tomorrow. The only thing you are exposing is yourself, and it ain’t pretty.

  • Butch1

Mr. Five Deferment Cheney; “I had more important things to do,” really pissed me off when I heard him smugly say that. I wanted to slug him. None of us could use that excuse to get out but he had five of them that kept him safe and away from the war yet he is the first sociopath who will send your kid off without skipping a beat in his new heart if he were back in power.

The fact that Obama has absolved him and the rest of the Bush administration of any war crimes really bothers me. Obama now, is just as guilty as they are and he should not have the power to make these decisions. They need to be made independent of this man and I think Congress. We may be able to tie them into these War crimes as well. What does one do when two branches of the government are so corrupt?

  • Butch1

    Many thanks. I, as well.

  • Bill_Perdue

This “While I am a Yellow Dog Democrat, and proud of it, I’m not a Yellow Dog Fag…”? It certainly did nothing to improve my opinion of Democrats and Dixiecrats.

I understand that Democrats, Republicans and other rightwingers hate the left. It means I’m doing a good job exposing rightists like Obama and his Republican supporters. Right centrists like you and your GOProud cousins are never correct except when they’re pointing one one another’s crimes and centrists are always irrelevant.

But keep up the personal attacks, they demonstrate over and over that your politics are bankrupt and Democrat.

  • RepubAnon

Firing blanks at close range is very dangerous to those in front of the weapons. Get a Ouija board and ask Jon-Erik Hexum.

Jon-Erik Hexum (November 5, 1957 – October 18, 1984) was an American model and actor. He died as a result of an accidental self-inflicted blank cartridge gunshot wound to the head on the set of the CBS television series Cover Up in which he played the male lead.

Hexum was apparently unaware that his actions were dangerous. Blanks use paper or plastic wadding to seal gunpowder into the cartridge, and this wadding is propelled from the barrel of the gun with enough force to cause injury if the weapon is fired within a few metres of the body should it strike at a particularly vulnerable spot, such as the temple or the eye. At point blank range, the effect of the powder gasses is similar to a small explosion so although the paper wadding in the blank that Hexum discharged did not penetrate his skull, there was enough blunt force trauma to shatter a quarter-sized piece of his skull and propel the pieces into his brain, causing massive hemorrhaging.” (Source: Wikipedia).

  • Bill_Perdue

Your questions are non-responsive and have nothing to do with what I said. You’re attempting to derail the discussion on mass murder by soldiers, and in most of the world that means by American soldiers and involves the murder of civilians.

Unlike you, I detest the murder of civilians by the military. Obama is unquestionalby the chief war criminal on the world scene today and Democrats who support him enable that. From Libya to Pakistan he’s the prime mover behind the murder of tens of thousands of civilians. And the racist murders of US citizens like Anwar al-Aulaqi, Samir Khan, ‘Abd al-Rahman Anwar al-Aulaqi and Jude Mohammed.

One of them, a 16 year old born in Denver is shown below.

  • Rob Dowdy

    What an interesting non sequitur.

Your hatred for the government truly is pathological, isn’t it?

Do you think another Kent State is likely? It’s a 40+ year old example. Since the US government is so evil, there should be many fresher examples. Please cite them for our edification.

What signs, specifically, have you seen to suggest the imminent possibility here in the US of another Kent State massacre?

Do you often see American soldiers being trained to display and discharge their weapons at children? Do you feel the American soldiers, their superiors, or the American public at large would find the behavior depicted in this video unremarkable and/or acceptable?

Given the answers to the preceding questions, just what is the point you are trying to make here?

  • Bill_Perdue

Russians playing soldier around young people.

American soldiers murdering young people at Kent State, Jackson state and using young people for target practice in Afghanistan.

  • Rob Dowdy

It wasn’t meant to be funny, it was meant to illustrate the hypocrisy of those who defend the Russian anti-gay laws as an expression of national unity and their cultural rights.

Would those same people defend the actions depicted in this video on the same grounds? If they did, it would sound like what I wrote above.

And they would sound ridiculous. Just as they do when they say it about the hate laws.

  • Butch1

Good for you. I was drafted and never wanted to go to war. I am gay and had three choices: Go to Canada and be scorned by my family; go to jail and be scorned by my family or go in the service. I, like many other gays just lied about my orientation and went in. What was ironic was that there were many straights who were lying about their orientation claiming to be gay to get out of serving their country. ;-) One had to pretend to be very effeminate to convince the draft board or the military at that time. A butch gay man would be drafted just as sure as a straight one. ;-) ( an effeminate straight man could get out if they wanted to do so. ) ;-) Strange times.

I just decided to take my chances.

  • Butch1

Yes, it becomes easier each time.

  • http://adgitadiaries.com/ karmanot

This is an excellent comment. I often think back on the past—Viet Nam and it still has great power and import for me. I was a radical anti-war protester and helped run an underground railway to Canada for AWOLs and others. But, given that, I and those I knew in the movement never ever held contempt for individual soldiers who committed their lives in war, never held them in scorn, nor degraded their service. It was a paradox with which we lived. We dealt with individuals, many of whom were suffering from PTSD and other traumas. It was one on one, one human being after another. In later years I became involved in hospice….it felt much the same.

I too remember those days and how unjustly soliders were treated by us “hippies”. I think it was hard for us to separate the military man from the government that created the uproar. Thankfully many of my friend has gone to serve, many not returning and so I knew that it was not the men in uniform that deserved the scorn, rather it was the men who sat safely in DC and watched while our men/boys died and the country boil. Happening again – exactly the same.

Oh my, what a glorious display. The Russians are increasingly in need of their very own Leni Riefenstahl.

  • http://www.rebeccamorn.com/mind BeccaM

Hell of a military training regime you’ve got over there in Russia if your cadets have not been taught the single most important lesson of firearms safety: NEVER point a gun at ANYTHING you do not intend to shoot.

To be firing them while pointed at the crowds of children? Madness. The absolute height of negligence and irresponsibility.

Even blanks can kill too, y’know. The inert packing wads can still exit the barrel at velocities of hundreds of kilometers per hour.

  • fritzrth

And the children have been programmed to stand in line and not flinch when Russian soldiers kneel in front of them and target them with their guns.

  • Butch1

I had come back from Vietnam after a year ( 1969 ) in early 1970 to watch and see all the protests. Up to that time I didn’t realize how bad it was when I was in Vietnam. I think news of this was being kept from us or at least I don’t remember it. I do remember see it when I came home. There were no parades or “Welcome home!” banners at the airport, save the one in front of my parent’s home when I got there. I did see a lot of protesting at the airport though we were fortunate to be in an area where only military could be. We weren’t ready to handle the scorn of the public. You have to remember there was no cooling off period for us soldiers. We came from the jungles after a year of fighting and 22-23 hr flight to civilization and we are supposed to behave in a civilized world. I think that is asking an awful lot from soldiers and not have some one blow up or perhaps get into a fight with someone. I certainly understand how the soldiers of today with their many tours of duty have a problem adjusting back into civilian life.

The new recruits were being shipped off to Vietnam in one line boarding the plane and those of us who survived were coming off the plane in the other line. We had the old faded uniforms and we looked all war beaten whilst they looked fresh and in fresh olive drab new uniforms ready for war. They looked scared and ready to die in our eyes. We probably looked like thugs in their eyes and to be avoided going the other direction. ;-

Back to Kent State: Unfortunately, no one went to jail though what happened did divide the country or perhaps, galvanize it and made the people realize they couldn’t trust their government or believe a word it was telling them anymore and it finally brought an end to that evil war.

Some of our soldiers didn’t have a conscience who fired on innocent, unarmed students but, today’s military are being trained to do it. That is the big difference. Our own government is giving them permission to have no conscience. We have sunk so far as a nation in our morals and think our own people who disagree with our government are now the enemy.

Our citizens are sick and tired of war and this administration looking for ways to find additional wars to get us in. Congress is feckless and spineless and if we leave it up to the paid-off leaders of each of the corporate parties they will get the votes together or twist enough arms I think to pass it. Our illustrious War Industrial Complex is hungry and wants to be fed. They are greedy and by goodness they will twist arms until they get what they want regardless of what the people want. Congress doesn’t listen to us; the president doesn’t listen to us. In any event, we need now to scream at both of them and not stop! We do not want war and we need to pull them out of office if they continue on this path!

Yeah, I just caught the missing “the” at the beginning of the comment too – good catch, Nicho. Though I’m still not wholly convinced….

  • Whitewitch

Psyops…the troops now have “pretented to fire upon children” so that they are less sensitive to the activity. And the people are now subtly aware that the troops can and will fire on them. Interesting…coming to American soon.

  • Butch1

We would do it too if they could get away with it. Our own soldiers are being trained to be able to fire upon our citizens if they are called upon to do it in an emergency situation. Since Posse Commetatus has been dissolved it allowed our own soldiers to police our citizens where they couldn’t in the past. A part of a soldier’s training is being able to kill a citizen if they are considered a threat or “terrorist” to the state. Now days, the definition doesn’t take much to fill the bill. Unfortunately, it only takes one national emergency and a Presidential order of Martial Law for this to take effect. Our “trust me” president would implement some eye-opening laws that would make any dictator salivate in my opinion. We are no different.

Putin views homosexuality as the exact same thing as pedophilia, just under a different name – same thing that’s happening in Uganda. So to alter your sentence for that kind of thinking:

A youtube comment claims it’s Germany, but who knows.

  • http://AMERICAblog.com/ John Aravosis

Really, you mean there isn’t a photo of the cadets lined up in front of children pointing their machine guns at them? Why, yes there is! And the video doesn’t show the cadets firing blanks from the machine guns while children are standing in the line of fire? Why yes it does! So the story is actually 100% accurate. Fortunately some of us are old enough to remember Soviet propaganda, and the whole notion of simply denying the obvious in the hopes of creating a false he-said-she-said. The video and photo speak for themselves. Had they tried that in the US, boy would heads roll.

  • http://AMERICAblog.com/ John Aravosis

You see children? I see future homosexuals.

The message is clear. Isolate Russia!

  • Rob Dowdy

It’s just a cultural thing. We should respect their choices. Russia is in the business of protecting children, not endangering them.

Were these children being fired at at point blank range by soldiers using actual guns and fake bullets? Sure.

But do you see any homosexuals in that video? No? Then those kids were perfectly safe and you should all stop being so judgmental and elist!

  • dr_benton_quest

Writer of this story is an idiot. This was a public exhibition of the military tranining skills of a group of cadets. They were not lined-up in front of children as concocted by the moron author.
