“Do you think Obama’s a crypto-Muslim?”

Former Republican presidential candidate, and religious right leader, Pat Robertson worries that President Obama may be a “crypto-Muslim.”

Robertson was speaking with, as Right Wing Watch calls him, “Christian Broadcasting Network terrorism ‘expert’/sports reporter Erick Stackelbeck.”

Stackelbeck frets that Occupy Wall Street is somehow tied to radical Islam, or something.

PAT ROBERTSON: What is it with the Obama administration? Do you think Obama’s a crypto-Muslim, or what’s the story, what do you think?

ERICK STACKELBECK: I think he is a revolutionary leftist…. If you have that mindset, in my view, you will work with other entities, that you may not agree with on everything, you’ll work with other entities against a common foe.  For the hard-core left, for the hardcore Islamists, the common foe is Judeo-Christian western civilization….

So you have strange bedfellows… this Occupy movement, Occupy Wall Street, radical Islamists around the world were cheering that on.  Anything that weakens America, weakens traditional America, the left will support.

PAT ROBERTSON: Eric, that is chilling. And ladies and gentleman, I wish it weren’t true.

Robertson hopes you won’t notice he is a crypto-christian. And a genuine charlatan.

  2. ArthurH says:

Can you prove it? I need documentation! And not just the word of a government agency in Honolulu.

  3. ArthurH says:

But the Milana Bra infomercial is much more entertaining than your average Pat Robertson program.

    “Do you think Obama’s a crypto-Muslim?”

No Pat. But I think you’re the Crypt Keeper.

  5. Anthony says:

The older he gets the loonier he becomes. I believe that all minister and christian churches should be made to their taxes. If you say stupid things, then you should have to pay for the privilege of saying those asinine statements.

  6. nicho says:

Just for the record — Obama is not a liberal and is not revolutionary. He is a corporatist out of the Chicago School and is dedicated to serving his corporate masters.

  7. ron says:

    he supports legalizing marijuana.

  8. Richard says:

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour–and certainly not against your President. Obama may be a liberal, may have revolutionary streak in him ( you don’t become the first half black President of the US with out being at least a little revolutionary, but Obama has been a Christian his entire life so has his wife and children…I have a feeling Pat is going to mighty shocked when he dies and opens his eyes in hell…this man is a FALSE Prophet claims to speak directly with God…I am 100% sure his conversation are with the devil….he speaks more hate than love, more ridicule than reason, more Bull that Bible scripture….he has a agenda and recently it is political and not spiritual…Pat stay in your LANE!!!

  9. Badgerite says:

    What a fine human being!

  10. chrislib says:

So many lies, so much hate from alleged “christians.” By their reckoning, Saint Ronnie of Raygun was a revolutionary rightist who, despite being pro-gay and pro-choice while governor of The Left Coast, allied himself with theofascist Jerry Falwell in order to get votes for his pro-Wall Street agenda.

  11. lynchie says:

He is going to cover all bases by following the Pope on twitter. Cut down on his time in Purgatory. He reminds me of a skid mark in the toilet of life.

  12. All right, how many suckers watching this program will buy the book? It’s chilling! I wish it weren’t true!

  13. Peter says:

No, I never heard of a crypto-muslim, but I sure know someone who is a true loon and needs to be given his jello snack, Pat.

  14. Ninong says:

Pat Robertson will do anything for a buck, even if it means praising a murderous thug like Charles Taylor, who testified at his 2010 war crimes trial in the Hague and Robertson volunteered to make Liberia’s case before the Bush Administration in exchange for concessions to Robertson’s Freedom Gold, Ltd., to which Taylor gave a contract to mine gold in southeast Liberia.

Robertson even criticized then-President George W. Bush for “undermining a Christian, Baptist president to bring in Muslim rebels to take over the country.” So, if there’s money involved, or gold, Pat Robertson will accuse anybody of being a crypto-Muslim.

He told his 700-Club sheeple that he needed contributions to send relief supplies to Rwanda but, according to two of his Operation Blessing pilots, they were actually flying diamond-mining equipment to Robertson’s mines in Liberia.

Robertson is a scumbag and one of these days his cold, dead carcass will be discovered lifeless on the floor of his office, just like his pal Jerry Falwell.

  15. ComradeRutherford says:

Pat Robertson is definitely a crypto-Muslim. No question.

Should have gone to Hair Club for Men. They’re experts at rug repair.

  17. karmanot says:

My rug repair with its tiny plastic scissors and tiny tube of glue almost worked.

  18. Indigo says:

If it’s true that “by their deeds ye shall know them,” it strikes me as reasonable to suspect that Robertson is a crypto-Satanist.

  19. karmanot says:

You nailed it! Opps, pardon the pun.

  20. karmanot says:

Who are depressingly gullible for only $19.99.

  21. karmanot says:

Obama has no leftist bona fides.

  22. karmanot says:

Thank you I can’t stop laughing!

    R U uzing Google translator?

  24. Monoceros Forth says:

Now, now, go easy. Sulfonamides had already come into existence by then.

  25. mike31c says:

Even President Obama is a Muslim, what part of the US Constitution does this bigoted and ignorant asshole “Christian” and his lemming followers believe it says “No Muslims” can be US President?

  26. consneverwork says:

Now, now, u still lost and will again. We like Obama and we aren’t mad like u so we don’t need to create false enemies like u cons do. BTW. at least his contributions aren’t paid for by the taxpayers the way this shyster’s are, some pseudo-Christian gouging his way through life like most cons.

  27. Thom Allen says:

Paychecks? He’d give them a Chase Payroll Card a la McDonald’s. He’d never miss an opportunity to make a buck.

  28. Houndentenor says:

I guess it’s no more absurd than any of the other made up bullshit he believes. Has Robertson ever said anything that didn’t sound batshit crazy?

  29. Thom Allen says:

Thank you, Pat Robertson, for allowing all of us to see first hand the ravages of Right-Wing Religious Christian Uncivilized Western Malignant Dementia as you experience them. Had you taken that Salvarsan when it was first offered to you, this might never have happened.

  30. consneverwork says:

    These 2 are Hitler knockoffs.

  31. Reasor says:

Hell is afraid that he’ll steal all the silverware and set up a pyramid scheme to bilk the demons out of their paychecks.

  32. Zorba says:

Beats the hell out of me, nicho. But then, I would remove all exemptions for any kind of religious institutions.

  33. Monoceros Forth says:

KENT BROCKMAN: When cat burglaries start, can mass murders be far behind? This reporter isn’t saying that the burglar is an inhuman monster like the Wolfman, but he very well could be. So, professor: would you say it’s time for everyone to panic?
UNNAMED PROFESSOR: Yes I would, Kent.

  34. Monoceros Forth says:

Damn, it all makes sense now! You know how all those infomercials for rubbishy kitchen gadgets begin with footage of people screwing up even very simple and commonplace kitchen tasks, like using a colander or putting salad into a bowl? You watch and you think, “Who is so stupid that they’re unable to peel a potato without stabbing themselves in the heart with the peeler?” Christian Broadcasting Network viewers, that’s who.

  35. nicho says:

I’m still of the opinion that he is dead and this is his hell. He seems to hate everything so much.

  36. nicho says:

How do they get away with that bullshit? They are a political pressure group.

  37. benb says:

The Christian Broadcasting Network is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3); taxpayers are subsidizing this BS.

  38. Phil says:

No, but as nature takes its inevitable course, Pat Robertson will be occupying a crypt before too much longer.

  39. Phil says:

I am sure that it is obvious these guys are completely out of their mind. Our laws are supposed to evolve with time and keep up with society. It is very unlikely that President Obama organized the Wall Street movement. But for some reason everyone wants to link him with everything that is wrong with our country. I think it is important to remember who actually runs the Country. Senate and Congress! The President just has the opportunity to Veto bills that he thinks should no be law. He only has 3 chances then it passes no matter what! It would be EXTREMELY nice to hear Pat Robertson make a statement that is not based on hate and based more on traditional Christian Values! “Love thy neighbor”!

  40. BeccaM says:

I have no response save utter incredulity to know there are people who actually believe that crusty old bigoted con artist.

  41. BeccaM says:

Ya done given me a penguin flashback, honey.

  42. Bill_Perdue says:

He’s not a Muslim, he’s a rebranded christer pretending to be for marriage equality to get contributions.

  43. Naja pallida says:

John, I’m beginning to worry about you and your obsession with Pat Robertson. The right-wing loons are happy to come here and defend almost every other thing, from domestic spying, to continuing to permit the shooting up of public places, to endless Congressional obstruction… but nobody defends Pat Robertson. Nobody cares about Pat Robertson. It isn’t the 1980s anymore, the number of viewers of televangical programming has plummeted. Generous estimates from their own network claim that he’s lucky to be reaching a half-million viewers on any given night, and Nielson’s ratings are showing a quarter of that. All those people are probably over at Fox Noise. Tell us about some of the crazy shit they’re saying. At least they have someone actually paying attention.

  44. nicho says:

Whew! I was afraid no one would get the allusion. That would have been worse.

  45. usagi says:

Careful, child, Bloom County stopped before the 90s. You’re dating yourself.
Now excuse me while I check on the status of the Deathtöngue reunion tour…

  46. nicho says:

Absolutely. “Judeo-Christian western civilization” is just a nonsense term. It has no relation to reality — historical or theological.

  47. nicho says:

I have to admit, my Turnip Twaddler® has come in handy on many occasions.

  48. Reasor says:

The irony of this is that the Left in America can, perhaps, truthfully be described as a loose coalition of every underprivileged demographic that the Right treads on. Swap out Stackelbeck’s use of the words, “Judeo-Christian western civilization” with what he really means, which is “the culture of privilege enjoyed by slave-holding plantation owners of the antebellum South and their male descendants,” and the Stackelbeck’s narrative sounds a little less detached from reality.

Even then, he’s drastically overstating Obama’s leftist bona fides, the way Republicans typically do when describing their rival conservative, pro-capitalism party, with whom they have to compete for the winner’s share of the lobbyist bribe money every election. Obama is, at best, someone who can occasionally be shamed into doing the right thing, when the choice of doing the right or the wrong thing doesn’t affect his post-Presidential career prospects.

  49. cole3244 says:

why is it that every time i hear robertson speak i think of a priest convincing an altar boy into staying after church.

  50. Drew2u says:

“Only $9.95/month, operators are standing by!”

  51. S1AMER says:

Yeah, but some of those kitchen devices actually work.

  52. nicho says:

Did you ever notice that infomercials for sketchy kitchen products and these wacko Christian shows are scripted the exact same way? They have this carefully crafted dialogue that’s supposed to be spontaneous, but is incredibly stilted. However, in both cases, the scriptwriters know their audience — low-intelligence, low-information people who are depressingly gullible.
