Miyoko Shida, the incredible power of concentration (video)

Miyoko Shida, the incredible power of concentration. I’d call this a balancing act, but that wildly understates how cool this video is.

    Makes me sore just watching

  • exquisite Butoh performance. For those who do not Butoh performance, the movie ‘Cherry Blossoms, is a good start: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0910559/

  • This is epically insane.

Sorry, cannot resist a bad joke. When Hollywood remakes this, they will do it starring Michael J. Fox. This sequence will of course require a body double.

My fist thought? Here I am reaching the age and accumulated leg injuries and surgeries that I feel it is very, very good day when I manage to get out of the bed and make it to the bathroom without falling down in the morning. Fascinating display of skill.

  • That was extraordinary. Thank you, John.

I saw this exact same act done by a different woman in the new Cirque show, Amaluna. I could barely breathe while I was watching it.

My film skills and concentration are handicapped by my heavy breathing. I
feel like when the camera is on, I start shaking more – and that only
gets worse when I try to control my breathing.

Then again, I’ve also seen my pulse through my skin sometimes, so there’s that.

Wow, that’s one of the most unbelievable things I’ve seen. Very cool.
