Asante Samuel, please stop flaunting your heterosexuality

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel expressed concern this week that Washington Wizard Jason Collins was “flaunting” his sexuality by coming out publicly as gay.

Asante was particularly concerned about the children, lest they hear a professional athlete flaunt his sexual orientation publicly.

Imagine our surprise, then, to find Asante Samuel flaunting his heterosexuality in the May/June 2013 edition of Simply Buckhead magazine, where he appears with his “wife” Jeniva.

You know, I see Asante and his sexuality partner and I just can’t help thinking, why does everybody have to announce their sexuality or whatever? You know, what they prefer?

That’s just how I see it. That’s my opinion on things. All respect, you know – I have nothing but respect for the people whoever decisions they make and whatever. But you know, you don’t have to show it and flaunt it like that, Asante. You know what I’m saying?

We have kids out here too.

Who says you had to announce what you are, and that has to be talked about because you’re playing a sport? Talk about the sport, how good you do in the sport, Asante. What you did the last game, keep that like that. You don’t have to go into detail about other things.

Let’s keep it about the touchdowns, the baskets made, the shots, the assists, the goals made.
