Jon Stewart on Rand Paul’s filibuster of CIA nominee Brennan (video)

Jon Stewart covered Rand Paul’s filibuster this week of Obama CIA nominee (now director) John Brennan, over the administration’s drone policy.

There are two videos, the first on the filibuster itself, and the second on the end of the filibuster.

Privatization of Social Security would be a good thing. If I had all that money that I had paid into SS over the years, it would have earned more of a return and would be under my control in my retirement years.

It’s worse, because it’s in the present not the past.

You do have a good point there. The silence from the Dems — or worse, the pro-execution cheering — is as sickening as the jingoism of the GOPers during the last administration.

Speaking of showboating, is Stewart planning another Rally to Restore Sanity?

“When the political tricksters fail and the voting public actually gets a little bit upset, it is time to send in the clowns, and so most recently a couple of late-night TV comedians have joined the fray, holding a massive rally to ‘restore sanity.’

This new sanity is epitomized by the following family portrait: daddy is a ‘Conservative Republican’ mommy is an ‘Obama Liberal,’ the son is a ‘Libertarian,’ the daughter is a ‘Green,’ and the dog (the only one of them who is sane) is trying to run away. Meet the Losers: they are the ones who have no idea what class their family is in, or what their class interest is, and as far as their chances of making successful use of democratic politics to collectively defend and advance their class interest, well… they are the Losers—that says it all, doesn’t it? All that blood spilled in the name of liberty and democracy, and to show for it we have a country of insane Losers and the odd sane stray dog, free to a good home.”

Partisanship goes in both directions. How many so-called progressive liberals clapped and laughed at Obama’s predator drones “joke” and mindlessly support his tyrannical power claims?

What really matters in this case is the substance of the points being raised, not the ad hominem aspect. The fact of the matter is that Rand Paul, not so-called progressive liberals, stood up to the administration on drones with the filibuster.

Poor Rand Paul, he looks like Lime Jello impersonating Creme Breule.

I always thought his father was either delusional to the point of needing psychiatric intervention or a brilliant con man. Unfortunately I think this progeny disproves the latter.

No doubt this showboating reached the ears of some of the 1,360 domestic terrorist groups.

WE are saved, thanks to Rand Paul, safe and sound, SECURE and saved, from hellfire missiles launched from drones. One can’t say the same for those terrorists& their women&children in The Middle East. But U&I can rest easy tonight.

I’m glad to see that Rand Paul has given his usual wingnut routine a rest in order to make himself useful. All you usually hear from Paul are crazy proposals to privatize social security (not change the age requirements, but privatize it) or abolish the Department of Education. He’s finally making a positive contribution by focusing public attention on the expansion of drone warfare under the Obama administration. Good for Rand Paul. Now if Paul can come to understand that a country that wants to compete in the world needs a Department of Education and a Social Security program…

I know, but he was active in politics through those years, particularly in his capacity with the KTU.

He wasn’t drafted to run out of nowhere.

Rand Paul wasn’t in government during the Bush years

Remember, kids: If you’re a Republican president, you can lie the country into war and authorize war crimes and torture, and Rand Paul won’t make a peep in objection.

A Dem president continuing and expanding upon the policies of his predecessor? Unacceptable!
