Westboro Mingle: Where hate and love come together (funny video)

I love this.

It’s a spoof of Fred (“God hates f*gs”) Phelps’ Westboro Baptist Church. They’re the lovely religious right folks who picket the funerals of gay people, straight US soldiers, and even the funerals for the six- and seven- year-old children murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary in December.

You’ll recognize their handiwork:

    A literalist interpretation of the Bible will get you into all sorts of trouble, as this carefree couple discover in their entertaining parody video. They read their King James Bible and find ugly verses about gay folks (which you can compare with the 1001 other translations), which generate the meme “God hates fags.” Then they find verses singing the praises of slavery and mentioning the mark of Cain, which generate another meme with a racial slur, “God hates …”. Then our intrepid parody couple surf the net to the “Evil Bible Home Page” and find the topics “Rape in the Bible” and “Sexism in the Torah,” conveniently listed in the left-hand column, which generate yet another meme with a misogynist slur, “God hates …” “Wait a minute!” scream the loving couple. Their train of thought comes to a screeching halt.

    Don’t say I didn’t warn you, parody romantic singles. The fun-loving white couple in the parody video keeps coming up with Bible verses to justify one slur after another until… [dramatic pause]… they follow their biblical argument to its logical conclusion and generate a misogynist slur that strikes uncomfortably close to home. (Ahem.) People often bemoan the lack of civility in public discourse while sometimes forgetting that civility in public discourse is a two-way street. Maybe God hate double standards. Or maybe God is just allergic to them. (Achoo!) Time for Claritin.

    The couple in this clip are hypocrites and will burn in H-E- Double Hockey Sticks! They say they hate dancing, rightly so, the Devil’s foreplay, but end the spot with a dance. G#d hates them and so do I!

    Funny, but the original Christian Mingle ads are just as offensive… to logic, anyhow. A website that helps maroons find ‘God’s match for them’…!?!??! Seriously…!??!!?!? God needed team of html kids in Kansas to create a mechanism for enacting His design…?!!?!?

      Makes sense to me. Consider how Mr. god blew it with Adam and Eve. They had two sons. One was a murderer and the other gay ( who decorated an altar most pleasing to God—had lovely arrangements of wild flowers and all). The gay one got off’d in the first hate crime and the murderer brother committed (how shall we say this ?) a mother hump in the world’s first incest, case AND, because there are no exceptions for rape, Cain’s woe begotten tribe of Ham could not become Mormons and the Jews could not eat Pork. So take warning when hearing, “God’s match for them.”

      Gol-darn-it! I’m in favor of traditional biblical marriage, just like God gave to humanity — where a marriage isn’t a marriage until a girl’s father sells his daughter into marriage. Or slavery. His choice. What’s with this nonsense of a man absconding with a fertile female without paying a dowry bride-price, or a woman having any say in the matter of choosing a mate? For that matter, what’s an adult woman doing being unmarried in the first place? Scandalous, I tell you!

      Marriage was and always will be a business transaction, with females being the chattel property in the equation! God said so!
