This is a spin-off inspired by the Super Bowl “So God made a farmer” ad that we posted a while back, along with its “corrected” version in which the farmers weren’t all caucasian.

The gay version: So God Made a Gay Man.  From CrewMagazine.com:

The Dodge Ram Super Bowl ad taught us that a great meme is a terrible thing to waste — and that it’s great to be gay.

    But apparently God didn’t make any gay men who weigh more than 160 lbs. Everyone in this video is chiseled and lean. I think there was one or two older distinguished looking gentlemen, and the rest were a bunch of gym bunnies with pretty faces. Look, if we’re going to (rightfully) criticize the Farmer ad for not having black farmers, then we need to point out that not all gay men were born fully formed from an A&F catalog. You know who gets picked on in school just as much as if not more frequently than the gay kid? The fat kid, be he straight or gay. And good luck if you’re gay and overweight, because we are still a very superficial and judging community, despite the fact that, given our history, we should be more open-minded. I really liked this video. It was sweet. But let’s not forget that celebrating real diversity means more than just showcasing the pin-ups among us.

      Yep. but again, this is one author and there can be others. Imagine! We can have a catalogue of well-deserved answers to that Dodge commercial.

      I am neither a spring chicken nor a beanpole. So I definitely agree. But remember, Michaelangelo did his David. Rubens did his girls. Other people will do their version. Here is just one example of happy people, I don’t know if they are lesbians, but they are happy!

      It’s a magazine for gay men — and this seems to be the type of person it’s aimed at. I’m not saying it couldn’t have been better, but this is their market. They’re not trying to sell clothes and stuff to me.

      …if only they had ended it with say “and god gave us the Gay Man” while showing us the Calvin Klein dude…I could have laughed… and laughing is important.

      It was too much for me. I wish it were more inclusive…yeah, no black farmers? Bad.

    Might have been a little more effective if it said “gay person” rather than limiting it to “gay man”.
