Cardinal accused of aiding pedophiles will vote on next pope, says he’s scapegoat, like Jesus

Catholic Church documents show that former LA Carindal Roger Mahony – now retired, but still an archbishop emeritus in the Catholic church –shielded and protected child-rapist priests.  Rather than focus on helping those who suffered from years of abuse in the Los Angeles archdiocese, the narcissistic Catholic Cardinal is again making it all about him in a new blog post claiming that he’s being scapegoated, just like Jesus on the cross.

Last week, Mahony caused a stir by asking God to “forgive” his accusers, who by implication have done Mahony wrong.

This week, Mahony is comparing himself to Jesus on the cross.  I’m hardly the authority on Christianity, but I’m pretty sure that Jesus never shielded and protected child-rapist pritests.

Cardinal Mahony’s blog post last week:

To be honest with you, I have not reached the point where I can actually pray for more humiliation. I’m only at the stage of asking for the grace to endure the level of humiliation at the moment.

In the past several days, I have experienced many examples of being humiliated. In recent days, I have been confronted in various places by very unhappy people. I could understand the depth of their anger and outrage–at me, at the Church, at about injustices that swirl around us.

Thanks to God’s special grace, I simply stood there, asking God to bless and forgive them.

This week, Mahony changes course and goes full victim in yet another blog post:

He calls our suffering what it really is: painful and public humiliation, which is spiritually a grace-opportunity. I have tried to live out–poorly and inadequately far too often–his two implications of humiliation:

1. the acceptance of being scapegoated, pointing out the necessary connection between humiliation and redemption;

2. this scandal is putting us, the clergy and the church, where we belong–with the excluded ones; Jesus was painted with the same brush as the two thieves crucified with him.

Just like Jesus who church documents show oversaw the shuffling of priests and coverup of child rapists. Yes, Mahony and Jesus were both victims of people being upset over their role in protecting adults who raped children. Needless to say, people are even more upset now then they were before.

What’s especially troubling is that Mahony will soon by heading to Rome to participate in the vote for a new Pope of the Catholic church.

For a group that likes to pretend they hold the moral high ground, it’s odd to see such an enabler involved in the future of the church. But perhaps not surprising.

I think Nick Cave had it right when he said “We know you are… and we know there’s no need to forgive”

    Two questions for the Faithful….
One, Why isn’t this scumbag in Jail?
Two, How the heck can you people still believe in a God when the head men in his church allow/perpetrate these crimes with impunity? Where is your God when his priests are raping children?

  4. William Lamm says:

So he’s a drama queen as well. Lovely.

  5. cole3244 says:

the people that support the catholic religion are as culpable as the priests and hierarchy that they adore for reasons unknown. what a time and an uncivilized world we live in and christians make war on others that worship differently, sounds like the crusades all over again.

  6. Naja pallida says:

I’m not sure he was describing Jesus bukkake.

  7. karmanot says:

The Vatican takes seriously Jesus’ exhortation: “Suffer the little children to come onto me.”

  8. karmanot says:

And dressed it to the nines.

  9. karmanot says:

And, gays are responsible for the removal of plastic couch covers in the ‘good’ room!

If there was any procuring going on it seems highly unlikely that it was adults being procured.

  11. colleen2 says:

I’m fairly sure you’re being overly generous with your numbers there.

  12. Bill_Perdue says:

    Religion is the enemy.

Priests, imams, rabbis, ministers and pastors of all cults are the enemy.

Religion is humankind’s greatest tragedy. That includes all cults, not just the baby rapers.

It’s time to tax the cults, secularize their schools, hospitals and universities and close their seminaries to prevent child abuse and rape.

It’s time to indict and arrest Ratzinger, the college of cardinals, and roman cult bishops and archbishops as accessories to rape and child molestation. The catholic cult is an international organization of child rapists and those who conspire to aid child rapists. They should be prosecuted.

It’s time to criminalize cult interference in civil and political affairs.

It’s time to confiscate all the wealth of the roman cult to compensate their victims.

It’s time to get real and get mean.

None of that will be done, or even attempted, by Democrats or Republicans. They all pander to the enemy.

  13. jomicur says:

Mahony’s hardly alone. Scottish Cardinal O’Brien, who has been accused himself of, ahem, “inappropriate contact” with young priests and seminarians, will also be voting for the next fuhrer.

But, given the Catholic church’s bloody, racist, sexually twisted history, why would they exclude ANY villain?

In the early 13th century an Italian bandit named Matteo Orsino had the voting cardinals rounded up and locked in a ruined chapel. He then ordered his men to urinate and defecate on them through holes in the roof till they agreed to elect Orsino’s chosen man. Now there was a guy who knew how to give the “princes of the church” the treatment they deserved.

  14. Do with the SOB what Iceland did a couple years ago with an evangelical extremists who said gays deserve death . He was btw a school principal. He and his family got kicked out of the country. the rumor mill is that they got a one way trip to moscow with continuing service to the soviet far east Gulag.

  15. hell of an unprovable insurance policy. Time to end the exemption from civil law for religion.

All based on stories from about one man

BTW they also claim that jesus recovered the sight of some blind people. It’s not uncommon in situations of extreme stress and anxiety – eg war – that people go blind with no obvious reason.

But if you have an obstacle course – they navigate it with ease. the subconcious sees but the link to the conscious entity in our mind gets blocks. Usually with a little time the effect wears off.

  16. long before the youth ahve the life experiences and guts to refer to the mess that comes out of the back end of a bull, they get brainwashed by the church.

I’m old enough to remember that when we got our prisoners back from N. KOrea after the armistice, some of them – despite horrific treatement – believed that communism was the wave of the future.

Bet the commies studied the catholic church to learn how to brainwash. its always important to study you enemies

  17. Not wuite – take it apart block by block. Who knows what horrible relevations are hidden in the archives.

  18. God blesses it of course.

  19. their sewer system hasnt changed since constantine – thats why all of what they say is full of poo.

As pope leo said a long time ago – “this jesus thing works wonders”

BTW Jesus was a Jew and the vaticans hatred of Jews led to hitler (catholic) election and the holocaust

  20. Add one more thing – since the head has the mouth and the butt has the anus- these guys also have a reversed alimentary canal.

  21. they also blamed the kids for the rape – here’s one example…………

  22. Hopefully the SOB will share a cell with a guy nicknamed spike. Eye for an Eye sounds just about right for him. Give him an out – enougth rope to hang himself. Yes, I’ve met two people who were molested by their priests (both friends of a friend). When I asked why they didnt go to the police now – too painful to relive in open court”

BTW we are only beginning to get the story on the hierarchy. Another part of the issue is that the hierarchy has been hiding these vile crimes because they to were sex starved and power hungry.

I bet the follwoint news story is part of the reason the pope resigned. What the internatgional community should do is turn the vatican into a prison. And change the sign over the vatican gate to

Gebbet Macht Frei (Prayer makes free) (god wont be listening though)

  23. BeccaM says:

If by any chance a person’s beliefs determine one’s final afterlife destiny, I suspect Mahony’s final resting place will be much lower down and far warmer…

  24. mike31c says:

Except I do not recall Jesus stating it was okay to molest kids.

  25. Indigo says:

Here’s a sunshine-filled response because while it’s not likely the good bad cardinal will recant or sober up and then recant, it is likely that if he’s the voice of an ersatz Traditionalist Conservative Party then they are already discredited and will be more so, the more His Eminence rants. That could be a good thing that encourages moderation in the conclave. What? I live in Florida, it’s always sunshine! ;-)

  26. karmanot says:

Markus, if only you knew the workings of that crowd. Ask any of that gay cabal surounding and hand picked by Cardinal Law.

  27. RyansTake says:

Apparently, Wall Street isn’t alone in having sociopaths very high in its ranks.

  28. Know what? Pedophiles should die and frankly, at this point, burn the fucking Vatican down.

  29. charlestonvoice says:

Why the big fuss and controversy over pedophiles and gays? Live with it!
Architect of the US Federal Reserve Bank, JM Keynes, was a Pedophile

  30. nicho says:

And the first people buried in the mausoleum under the cathedral were his parents, who were exhumed and moved. Wouldn’t it be a shame if he couldn’t join them.

  31. nicho says:

If anything, they’ve perfected the corruption.

  32. lilyannerose says:

It’s like this tea party mentality of being 115 degrees north of anything that resembles conscience and honesty has become an international epidemic. Perhaps an alien ship did crash in Roswell and it carried some type of virus that caused erratic and just wrongheaded thinking? The virus cells just seem to call out to one another creating pods of people that are intent on destroying all things enlightened and just. Well anyway it’s my latest theory on the origins of the insane bubble pods as they are just so removed from reality. IOW, I am completely out of my depth in formulating any rational explanation of this damned plague!

  33. BeccaM says:

They wield the ultimate carrot and stick for people who are afraid of dying, which is nearly everybody. “You live forever and ever. Where you end up — eternal bliss in Heaven or eternal torment in Hell — depends entirely on us. Now give us your money and do what we say.”

  34. BeccaM says:

In other words, they haven’t changed a bit since Constantine.

  35. BeccaM says:

Wow. Who knew the Gay Agenda was even more powerful than the Illuminati? First hurricanes, then mass break-ups of hetero marriages, and now the destruction of a two-thousand year old religion from within.

Anyway, I know the report you’re talking about and the non-AP news summaries make for fascinating reading. Gay prostitution, criminal conspiracies, extortion, blackmail, fraud, drug running, money laundering on a scale that would make Mitt Romney say, “By Moroni’s holy drawers! How can I hook up Bain with that action?” and so much more.

  36. BeccaM says:

They also — Mahony included — blamed the victims and their parents for making a fuss. Often the children and their parents were accused of lying, girls accused of making sexual advances on those poor, helpless priests, boys accused of being homosexual predators, and sometimes the children were accused of being mentally ill.

    More scapegoats.

  37. unfortunately yes.

  38. colleen2 says:

    2. this scandal is putting us, the clergy and the church, where
we belong–with the excluded ones; Jesus was painted with the same brush
as the two thieves crucified with him.

I’ve never been able to understand why anyone would look to such men for advice and guidance.

  39. I can not believe the depth of Mahony’s hubris and arrogance over this. He hasn’t the faintest clue about what he has done. He should wear only sackcloth and ashes and pray for his own forgiveness and salvation in front of that cathedral he built until the end of his days. He’s the one in need of absolution not the people of his former archdiocese.

  41. UncleBucky says:

    LIKE JESUS???? Arrgghhh!!!!

  42. Yeah, the Vatican is run by gay people. That must be why they’re always at the forefront of the gay rights movement and why they have such a reputation of being gay friendly. NOT!

  43. ericxdc says:

do we have to let him back in the country when he tries to return?

  44. Says the douchebag who covered up the crimes of homophobic pedophiles while blaming the Catholic Church’s pedophile infestation on gay men. THAT’S the only “scapegoating” going on here!

  45. karmanot says:

OMG! So that’s why the drag is so fabulous!

  46. karmanot says:

While he was busy shuffling pedophile rapists around he built a magnificant new Cathedral to glorify his narrcistic personality.

  47. nicho says:

If you read the foreign non-English speaking media, you would understand just how corrupt this organization is. Ratzi commissioned a study. When he saw the three-volume report in January, he decided to quit. The place makes the Mafia look like kindergarten. You name a form of corruption, it’s going on. Sadly, one of the things the report found was that there is a group of gay cardinals, bishops and priests that meets regularly in and around Rome.

When the corruption story made it into the English, and specifically the American, media, that’s all they focused on. The story is that Ratzi found out there were gay priests and he quit. The AP (god bless their little homophobic hearts) reported it as a “gay plot within the Vatican.”

  48. nicho says:

Well, they’re probably involved in the other corrupt practices that have come to light in the recent Vatican report, which they’re trying to keep under wraps. There has been money laundering for terrorists and drug dealers, bribery, influence peddling, you name it. The Vatican is a cesspool of corruption.

  49. Houndentenor says:

Since those would be the only six or seven worthy of voting, where’s the problem in that?

  50. Houndentenor says:

Not only has he not confessed to what he’s done wrong, it’s clear from his statements that he doesn’t think he did anything wrong by shuffling child rapists from parish to parish where they continued to rape children. Why haven’t criminal charges been filed against this monster?

  51. BeccaM says:

Yeah. As the saying goes, the fish rots from the head down. And this one has been left there for centuries now.

  52. BeccaM says:

The definition of ‘scapegoat’ is one who is blamed unfairly for something they did not do. For example, in grade school, I first learned that a classic example of scapegoating was when people (mostly women) were unfairly accused of being witches when someone’s well ran dry or their cow died. Later, Jews were the scapegoats of the Nazis.

Child-rape enabler and former Cardinal Mahony doesn’t think he did anything wrong when he enabled child-raping priests to evade the law, directly enabling these pedophillic clergymen to continue their crimes. In nearly every civilized country on this planet, helping someone evade the law is itself a serious crime, and in the U.S. it is a felony. The more serious the crime enabled, the more serious the felony charges.

Mahony should be rotting in jail for the rest of his sad little life, where he’d be free to think that Catholic Church law supersedes civil law, even when it’s the rape of children — and be forever wrong. Would that it were so.

  53. nicho says:

If all the cardinals who shielded pedophiles recused themselves, there would be only six or seven left to vote.
