10 stunning photos from a 19 year old artist named Alex Stoddard

Chris’ wife Joelle directed me to the Web site of an amazing young photographer named Alex Stoddard. Stoddard is only 19 years old, and has some incredible photographs for a guy of any age, let alone someone so young.

But it gets better.  He writes on his Facebook page that he “discovered photography at the beginning of 2010.”  So he’s only been doing it for three years.

I wrote Alex and asked him if he wouldn’t mind me publishing a few of his photos, and he graciously accepted.  Here are a few of my favorites, but you can see many more on his Web site, and on his Facebook and Flickr pages.

Native Americans used to believe that a photograph could steal your soul.  Well, a few of these did.

Exceptional and a talented, gifted young man! My father was a professional photographer and he would have been very impressed!!

  2. so poorly presented I didn’t try to finish them, even for a slide show this one is cluncky. Too bad because the ones I saw are interesting.

    Truly unique and beautiful.

But I have to say that one with the headless man and girl kind of gives me the creeps. I think it has something to do with the bony wrists and too short sleeves that reminds me of that episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer where the creepy floating dudes stole everyone’s voices.

  6. He’s obviously a very talented artist. I think he has a very bright future in the arts.

Amazing pics. Several of them stole my soul, and I had to reach out and pull back. :-|

Made me think of paintings by Caravaggio, Joaquín Sorolla, Gabriel Morcillo, Jean Leon Gerome, John Singer Sargent, Henry Scott Tuke, Alice Neel, Picasso, David Hockney, and many others.

I lose my mind with some of those paintings…! :D
