Barbra Streisand and son Jason Gould sing duet (video)

Here’s some background on Barbra’s son Jason, from Wikipedia:

About 1991, tabloids outed Gould as being gay. In an interview with The Advocate published August 17, 1999, Barbra Streisand said:

I would never wish for my son to be anything but what he is. He is bright, kind, sensitive, caring, and a very conscientious and good person. He is a very gifted actor and filmmaker. What more could a parent ask for in their child? I have been truly blessed. Most parents feel that their child is particularly special, and I am no different. I have a wonderful son. My only wish for my son, Jason, is that he continues to experience a rich life of love, happiness, joy, and fulfillment, both creatively and personally.

Nobody on this earth has the right to tell anyone that their love for another human being is morally wrong. I will never forget how it made me shudder to hear Pat Buchanan say that he stood “with George Bush against the immoral idea that gay and lesbian couples should have the same standing in law as married men and women.” Who is Pat Buchanan to pronounce anyone’s love invalid? How can he deny the profound love felt by one human being for another? … Unfortunately, however, as long as people like Newt Gingrich and Pat Buchanan continue in public life, the fight to codify gay marriages will be a tough battle to win.

I totally disagree. Barbra didn’t upstage him. She just sang how she sings. His voice is amazing and I want to buy his music.

It’s always interesting to read commentary on Barbra Streisand. It seems she’s either damned if she does or damned if she doesn’t – with reference to the duet with her son, someone said she couldn’t help but steal the show at the end, – if she backs off to much, she’s losing her voice or as others have said, her treated of Jason smacks of nepotism. Really, he’s 45 and had minimal exposure due to his mother, reportedly she did not want to cast him in “The Prince of Tides” until the author of the book saw Jason’s photo at the Streisand home and said, “who’s that” – Streisand’s response, “Oh, that’s my son Jason” author’s response to that? “that’s Bernard!” and the rest so it is said is history. So, I would imagine if someone with Barbra Streisand’s brand of world-wide star power wanted to promote a family member, she certainly wouldn’t have waited until that member was 45 years old. He’s an artist in his own right, directing movies, composing music and songs, and now singing them. In Barbra’s defense, there will always be naysayers, so what does one do? Continue with your art, let it speak for itself, test the limits of time for judgement and know that you did the best you could possibly do for the sake of artistic integrity. If anyone has bothered to really look at her life and career,… they’d see that no one has rained on her parade. 50 years of being in the public eye and showing no signs of stopping is no accident. I challenge any critic out there to either write a hit song, then sing it, act in a movie, direct, etc. or shut the hell up.

It is not your lack of spelling ability that makes one question your intelligence, but rather your inability to recognize satire.

If over exposure to Barbra causes being “GAY?” but creates a talent for singing like her son, Then SIGN ME UP……. His acting ability in the one movie I saw was pretty well done also. Maybe it’s time for all of the whiny Queen want to be’s to stop eating their bon bons on the divan & take responcability for their own lives. And before any one tries to use my lack of spelling abilities to point out how intelligent I am, it’s just their way of trying to over rule their own feelings of self inadaquencies.
