New Maine marriage ad to premiere during Olympic opening ceremonies

Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) is running an ad is support of marriage equality in Maine tomorrow during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.  The ad features four generations of a family from northern Maine.

In other news, recent fundraising reports showed that Mainers United for Marriage, the pro-equality campaign in Maine has raised about 20 times the opposition – $597,000 to $31,000 between May 30 and July 17th.  Philanthropist Tim Gill has also launched a dollar for dollar matching campaign for up to $100,000 through August 10th.  You can donate here.

This is a strong start, but we can all be sure that groups like NOM will step in in the coming months to fund the opposition.  No matter how good fundraising and polling looks now, we know that this will be a tough campaign in the fall.
