$1200 a month for a prophylactic AIDS pill? Seriously?

Who can afford that?  No insurance company is going to cover HIVnegative people just because maybe, possibly, you won’t get AIDS if you take the pill (but you still might).  Hell, good luck trying to get them to cover Yellow Fever immunizations when you go to an infected region.)  Or the HPV vaccine for that matter.  And no one can afford $1200 a month on their own dime.

Also, the side effects sound a little scary for a drug that’s this expensive and only works half the time.
