Chris Christie endorses Mitt Romney

It looks like Mitt Romney has won the Chris Christie primary.

Dave Weigel makes a good point about why Christie may have gone for Romney:

Thinking more about this move, I think of the pissed-off answer Christie gave to a reporter who asked why the nomination of a judge, Sohail Mohammed, had been controversial. It was because of “the crazies,” and Christie was sick of them. After a weekend spent jawing about whether or not Romney is a cult member, that’s a popular sentiment.

That could be a big part of this. Or that Romney is the front runner and Christie is most ideologically similar to him out of the rest of the field. I’d be interested to see if Romney would use Christie as a surrogate against Mormon bashing. It could be helpful, as his defense of Sohail Mohammed made me like him (albeit temporarily). At the same time, Romney himself needs to be calling out the bigots within his party, including his competitors.
