Former Treasury official Roger Altman is among the candidates being considered to replace Larry Summers as director of President Barack Obama’s National Economic Council, a White House official said.Altman, who is founder and chairman of Evercore Partners, a New York-based boutique investment bank, met Obama at the White House on Tuesday, the official said.
The official stressed that the process of picking a new NEC director, who coordinates economic policy for the president, was in an early stage.
