CNN on Lady Gaga and the DADT repeal rally in Portland

Actually, this was a very informative piece on CNN today. Kudos Kyra Phillips. It shows the power of Lady Gaga. Seriously. This is not just about Lady Gaga and her celebrity…it’s about her ability to push the story and create interest in the DADT debate. And, she’s driving enormous attention to the vote cloture tomorrow. She’s taking the issue right to Collins and Snowe.

The DADT language in the Defense Authorization bill doesn’t end the ban of open service. But, it’s an important first step. Tomorrow’s vote matters. Collins and Snowe will show us whether they do support LGBT equality — or whether they’re the pawns of Mitch McConnell. McConnell usually wins.

Again, I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t be as big a story if Lady Gaga showed up in DC. Everyone does that. And, no one in this cynical town cares.
