Day 32 since HRC’s Joe Solmonese promised that DADT would be repealed this year

We’re starting a new feature on AMERICAblog Gay, where we count the days since Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese promised that DADT would be repealed this year. At this point, there’s no chance in hell that’s happening. HRC has the power to change that. I guess we’ll find out by December 31 if HRC, and Joe Solmonese, matter.

Here is Solmonese at HRC’s North Carolina fundraiser last month:

And finally, finally this year we are going to bring down the discriminatory policy known as ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’…once and for all.

I also get that there is a drumbeat coming from our community to put more pressure on, to make more demands of the President and members of Congress to get it done this year because who knows what’s going to happen at the mid-term elections and frankly they are right and our time is now.

They are right. It has to happen this year. And Joe promised it would. Never forget that fact, because we’ll be checking in every single day between now and New Years.
