Jeremy Hooper deconstructs NOM’s latest viciously homophobic email blast:
Unordinary.
Bamboozlers.
Intimidators.
Discouragers.
Lacking in common sense.
Indecent.
Untruthful.
Irreligious.
A movement fostering a lie about human nature.
UnGodly.In just two short paragraphs, Brian Brown manages to make all of these claims about LGBT people and their principled push for decent treatment. And not just LGBT people, actually, but any and everyone who supports the same.
He hasn’t just positioned this broad coalition as anti-”traditional marriage.” In fact, his words would be seen as outrageous by many people who don’t support full marriage equality (for whatever short-sighted reason) but do support LGBT people. He is thoroughly defaming the very idea that LGBT people are part of this world’s normalcy. And most egregious: He is doing so under the auspices of “loving” Christianity.
Brown and his fellow haters at NOM foster the worst kind of homophobia. Jeremy’s right:
Sometimes you just have to say it: SOME PEOPLE TRULY WANT US GONE!
