It’s official. Houston now has a gay mayor:
Parker took the oath of office in a private ceremony at City Hall on Saturday, two days before a public inauguration during which she will be sworn in again.
The 53-year-old Parker took the oath before state District Judge Steven Kirkland and alongside her partner, Kathy Hubbard.
Congratulations to Mayor Parker and the voters of Houston who made it possible.
Just think, the mayor of the fourth largest city in the United States doesn’t have the right to marry her partner. Wow, you can be mayor of the fourth largest city in the United States but you can’t marry your partner because it will somehow diminish marriages like that of Karl Rove’s? Oh, that’s right, Karl Rove just got a no-fault divorce, didn’t he? Ridiculous.
