Great news from Congresswoman Sussan Davis:
Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-San Diego) announced that her subcommittee will hold another hearing on the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy, which bans gays and lesbians from serving openly in the armed services. Davis, who chairs the Military Personnel Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee, set a date of March 3 for the hearing. It will be a follow up to the hearing held by Davis’s subcommittee in 2008.“This hearing will give members of Congress an opportunity to hear testimony from the Department of Defense leadership, military leadership and the senior military personnel who will be charged with carrying out any changes to the policy,” said Davis. “It’s important to understand the challenges of implementing any new policy. Hearing from these professionals will help Congress move forward.”
This is especially important as the committee chair, Ike Skelton, is not on our side. So it’s good that Davis is chairing the hearing, so we can avoid a hearing aimed at hurting the President, and all of us.
