Anti-gay Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) wants Carrie Prejean to run for office

Rep. Jason Chaffetz is making a name for himself as a leading homophobe in the U.S. House of Representatives. He’s from Utah, btw. But, he’s also making a name for himself over Carrie Prejean. Via Think Progress:

TMZ reports that Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) recently suggested that former beauty pageant contestant Carrie Prejean would be a serious contender for public office:

[Carrie] has the ability to draw crowds and if she has a strong message to go with that, who knows what she can do? She has star power which can open doors.

We’ve all made mistakes when we were 17. [The sex tape] is going to be an impediment, but people are excited about her convictions and her beliefs.

Tell us more, Rep. Chaffetz. On second thought, don’t.

TMZ also provided this commentary:

Carrie Prejean has a serious congressional supporter who thinks she should pursue a career in politics … and it’s not just because she has her finger on the hot-button issues.
