“Crash” director leaves Scientology over their support for Prop 8

From Elizabeth Snead at the LA Times blog:

Oscar-winning writer-director Paul Haggis finally quit Scientology after 32 years.

Maybe there’s hope for Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

Long known for his humanitarian and civil liberties work, Haggis (“Million Dollar Baby,” “Crash”) was stunned when the San Diego branch of Scientology supported Proposition 8, the state amendment that took away marriage rights for California’s gay couples.

Interesting that the LA Times blogger chose to mention Cruise and Travolta, specifically, with regards to this particular issue.
